Is it bad that I am KIND OF hoping that the first person to make a deal with these guys will be Nintendo so we can get a live riff of Super Mario Bros?

Honestly, thinking back on it, I'm not sure how much material Super Mario Bros. or even The Wizard would offer. They're bad movies but not sure "bad enough" to make for a great, hilarious, Riff.  Twilight would be epic, however, since they've already provided some of their best work when it comes to their MP3 riffs.  Second to that would be The Room. (And, really, I doubt Wiseau would turn away $100,000+ for these guys to rip into it on a live show.)  Super Mario Bros? Not so sure, but it has been forever since I've seen it.  But from what I recall it's just simply a bad movie but not humorously bad.

You really need to see it again.  It's nuts.

Yeah, it is nuts. It would lend itself to riffing amazingly well. Because there's always something going on, it never lets up. There isn't a slow bit in the whole movie. And ALL of it is bizarre. I think it would be best if riffed by somebody that really is a gamer.

I don't know if it is bad, but I don't think you're very good at wishful thinking - try this on:

Rifftrax makes a deal to riff Twilight live for the amount they estimated it would cost. The riff is a huge success (Twilight is also pretty darn high profile and will potentially bring in more of an audience than your Super Mario bros etc) and they had raised so much money that they then continue down the list and bring more movies to the stage.
FINE

... and they show them in theatres in canada and australia.

I wish they would, and I tried contacting the only cinema here who might do it and they ignored me, but I am happy with getting the VOD release after the fact. (Let's go with Manos already!)

Trek, let me give you a sample:

The horror.  The horror.  Oh how 20 years of repressing memories have made me forget so much of that movie.  Everything in that clip I had completely forgotten. Okay, pretty funny take on that (where did that come from, BTW?) still, I'm not sure how much of a "experience" that would make for in one of the live shows like Twilight or even The Room would have.  Still would be fun to get that as a VOD, I suppose.

Here's my suggestion to Rifftrax:

1) Negotiate the rights to Twilight (or failing that, the next movie on the list) and get a more realistic amount that it will cost/have it in the bag.

2) Announce new stretch goals (which is what all successful Kickstarters like this do)

Suggested Stretch Goals:

1) If we hit $X (say $250 000) we'll negotiate a second movie from that list

2) If we hit $X (say $300 000) we'll negotiate for a live riff of a 'Rifftrax Classic' and then secure the rights to one of the early Rifftrax releases that only has one or two riffers on it. I'm STRONGLY pushing for RoadHouse. But also, Point Break, Over The Top (though that might have less drawing power?), Halloween, xXx etc

If you are worried the movies are a little obscure, you have all of the material already to cut together a kick-ass trailer to run before the previous two, above mentioned, shows.

The three-riffer version killed at the second RiffTrax live show.
