Making a Kelsey Grammer joke whenever someone crashed a car. I haven't seen that joke in awhile, though. So, I'm thinking maybe they've gotten sick of it, too.

Heh. The guys linked to the TVtropes listing for Rifftrax yesterday and there's this note under "Running Gags":

QuoteReferences to Kelsey Grammer's car accident

    * This might even be bordering on Mythology Gag territory, as they were making this joke as far back as the MST3K riff of Puma Man

Puma Man was a 1998 release. At this point, I expect them to keep using that riff for a while.

I know.....but Charlie Sheen just had 2 or 3 cars "stolen" and end up at the bottom of cliffs.....can't this joke be "freshened up" a bit?
Toonses is a car theif?!

Well overused

1. Schnappy. I don't get what is funny about it or why it needs to be used so often.
2. "According to Jim"
3. (Threats of) Cartoon violence in reaction to bad puns. I love bad puns! Just groan and move on.

Approaching overuse

1. Stormtrooper marksmanship comparisons
2. Get off my plane!

Finally saw the 3-riffer version of NOTLD.....

I'm officially sick of the "What's Happening" theme.

No one has mentioned the Arby's jokes. Which seem to be prevalent in at least 95% (if not all) of the rifftrax I've seen. And I've seen at least 50 of them.
I actually don't mind the Arby's jokes so much now. They annoyed me at the start, but the sheer abundance of them in and of itself has become amusing.

I agree that the "According to Jim" and "Gary Unmarried" jokes (which are the same joke, essentially) are overdone. I don't even know what Gary Unmarried is and wouldn't know what According to Jim was if it did not have his name in the title. It's like jokes about Jeff Foxworthy in the 90's: they are very dated and don't play well 2 years later.

Also, a lot of people have complained about Disembaudio: I think he's hilarious. Yes, it got a bit old when there were 10 similar voices for long periods of time in "The Room" but the jokes themselves were solid and outweighed any annoyance. I love the Disembaudio bits in Predator and in 300. And him singing at the end of Eragon was priceless because it was unexpected, but I don't think he needs to sing every credits song.

And "lllladies" will never get old!
You keep using that word: I do not think it means what you think it means.

Moe

Yeah, the Ron Paul ones are getting old for me too.  I like the Lllladies line from time to time. but I kind of think it gets thrown out there too often.  It would be more funny used fewer times.  IMO

Some Internet memes could be done without. Some of them sound kind of forced, like the Riffers are trying too hard to connect to the younger demographic while secretly hating every minute of it.

Their reference to Nintendo Power mascot Nester in "Avatar" has cured me from ever thinking they're trying too hard to appeal to younger folks.  While I can't imagine Mike, Kevin or Bill having ever heard of him till the writing sessions, it shows they have writers who do know their stuff and the guys are prescient and trusting enough to allow that in.

But will they date well?

I have no idea how good their dating skills are.   :rimshot:

While the "Gary Unmarried" and "According to Jim" jokes have been done to death as well as the "Daddy Day Camp" jokes.  I will never get tired of "BONESAW IS READY!" jokes.

I love the Macho Man Randy Savage, even met him person on several occasions, but the way he delivered that line; yeah he needs to keep getting ripped on it.

I think the reason they use Daddy Day Camp all the time is because it's a movie that people know is bad even without seeing it (The Cuba Gooding Jr effect).  Same with Gary Unmarried and According to Jim.  If it was references to a bunch of different movies, they would go over people's heads occasionally.
I like artificial grape flavor, but I hate real grapes.  A paradox!?

Yes, God forbid they should make a joke about something so obscure that it might go over a few people's heads.

I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?
