This is begging to be riffed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A81IwlDeV6c
Kid's Guide to the Internet from 1997.
Just the theme song alone is amazing.

My favourite bit is about 25 minutes in.  I love when my kids have an internet party!

Ahhh the '90s. When people would set-up a computer, with it's 10,000 wires and big ugly metal plates and fans in the back of it, in the middle of the living room.

Wow, it's amazing how they made 1995 seem like 1955.  Good old bland, wholesome internet...

Although the problem with it might be it being hard to come up with non obvious riffs.

I love how the white suburban housewife can't think of any use for the computer other than the most stereotypically woman things.  "I can look up recipes and housekeeping tips on the Internet!"

I forgot how primitive web pages looked without CSS or the various scripting languages.  How did we ever manage in those wild west days?

MartyS (Gromit)

I guess we never really see pages loading, the video gives the impression of things happening instantly, like they do today, but that's not how it was on a 24Kbps modem...   Even at work the line for the university was a single T1 for everyone on campus to share, and it was slower than what I have at home now even when hardly anyone was using it.

It's weird because I'm old enough to remember the ancient Worldwide Web, as it came online around 1995 when I was in my early teens.  Yet I can barely remember it.  Remember when the thought of watching TV over the Internet was a joke?  Now there are TV shows being shown entirely over the Internet.  I wonder where we'll be in another 18 years.

There might not be enough good pauses in there for the riffs to fit in naturally though.

They talk over the audio a lot as it is anyway.  I think there's good material there.  And, yeah, I forgot how primitive webpages looked back then. Yikes!

I remember years of having nothing but Windows 98 with dial-up.  Taking an hour to download a song, hoping no one needed the phone.  Then I finally started college in 2004.  First day I moved in to the dorms, got a brand new Dell, connected to the LAN...and immediately got to work filling the 40gb hard drive with episodes of MST3k.

Fixed it for you.  :)
The fact that it was correct the first time proves how much of a nerd I really am for this stuff.  Also, my roommate was just, ALWAYS there.

My first internet browsing experience was through Link! The Text-Browser!

I watched this, and it's really not riffing fodder.  First off, as one someone noted, there's not enough pauses in the dialogue to fit riffs.  Also, as far as cheesiness goes, there's really only one joke in there.  All the humor is derived from the technology being dated, and you can't get much mileage from that.
