rifftrax jokes you're sick of

I was really thinking hard of something to contribute to this thread, but I have only actually purchased one Rifftrack, and since my copy of The Empire Strikes Back was a pirated version from Kazaa, the sync never really worked right anyway.  (I own the movie, but it is the original, non-screwed-around-with THX enhanced VHS tapes with the Leonard Maltin interviews.)

I do remember a number of "That's not the first time hes said that!" being used...like when 3PO said: "I thought that hairy beast would be the end of me!"

Or, "They fight a lot, but the sex is great!!!"

Overused and obvious.
"I love you Braaaaaaaaaak!!!"

I thought the "he used to be able to fly" jokes were way overused in the Return of the Jedi riff.

The fact that Lucas gave us a flying R2 where later he can't is already a joke unto itself.....

(BTW....those Family Guy SW things never bring that up, do they?  I think Robot Chicken did....)

i don't think the family guy brought up much on the last  (first, second... whatever) trilogy.  I absolutely loved the family guy star wars special even though I've lately despised the show as a whole.  i think the blue harvest episode was the funniest star wars spoof/tribute I have ever seen, but their take on Empire wasn't as funny to me.

Yeah...."Blue Harvest" was about the jokes.  "Something...Dark Side" was like "How many effects sequences can we re-create shot for shot in animation and then throw some jokes in?"

They even mention in the commentary that A New Hope was a lot easier to parody because the story was a lot simpler.  Empire splits the main characters up a little more and there's more story threads to keep up with.  With that in mind, their Jedi parody is going to be even worse.  You have to finish up three stories at once.  Chris and Stewie will be fine for the Luke/Vader confrontation.  I wish they'd picked someone funnier than Mr. Pewtershmidt for the Emperor though.  Peter, Lois and Brian can carry the ground battle with the Ewoks.  But then we have a space battle that'll star Mort Goldman?  They'd better come up with genius casting for Admiral Ackbar and the weird co-pilot to keep that funny.

Wait...they could get more jokes from one simple story than two stories going on at once?

Really think they could have gotten a lot more mileage out of Luke's training with Yoda at least.....except they were too worried about showing the whole chase through the asteroid field.

Apparently they considered Ollie Williams and Magic Johnson as Lando. I wish they'd gone with Magic. It's more in the vein of Family Guy randomness, and let's face it, Mort isn't very funny even in his best moments. But stuck with Mort, I don't think there's any reason to recast Lando's copilot at all. He's weird enough as it is. I could see Ollie as Ackbar. "How's the battle going Ollie?" "IT'S A TRAP!"

I was disappointed by Something Something Something Darkside, too. (Although the nerf herder bit kills me...) I think the biggest problem might be that they've separated Stewie and Brian. I'd wager they provide the most memorable jokes after the cutaway gags (which are clearly Family Guy's bread and butter, but they can't do much of that in a Star Wars parody) and while it seems obvious to make Stewie Vader and Brian Chewie, that means they never interact in the entire trilogy. They inadvertantly benched their ace comedy team.

As a relative newcomer, when was it that the running jokes really started? I only ask because having now rediscovered the joy of the early tracks (Roadhouse is still my all-time favourite btw) there was far less of it back then.

Not that that is a criticism btw, I love them, but was just wondering really.

Compound

Well, the references to Schnappi were probably the first running gags. Otherwise, it probably started a few episodes in when Mike made a callback to Roadhouse. So they've been around since pretty much the start. It's just now there's a wider variety of running gags.

mrbasehart

There was an early run of Kevin Federline jokes that disappeared along with the bloke, if I recall.

Action Batch

The Horatio Sans jokes fell by the wayside.

When Bill growls "Hawk...or Hawkes!!!" it refers to Stallone's character in Over the Top being inconsistently addressed by two different names.

By the way, I am not sick of this gag at all!

I'm sick of the NORM, NORM, NORM! jokes. Honestly, I'm sick of any of the jokes where they just sit back and lazily criticize the quality of the movie with some cheap joke. Any idiot can sit down and say damn this movie blows. It takes a little more talent to put a hilarious spin on the joke. I.E. "Look out it's gonna blow!" "If the first ten minutes are any indication this movie's gonna blow!"

I agree about that, mainly when it comes to effects.  We get it, CGI is used a lot.  Move along, please.

That said, I like the joke when the CGI is actually bad:  my personal favorite being the "So you're really going to stick with that effect?" line in Battlefield Earth.

I can almost guarantee that if and when there is an Avatar riff, it will be 98% CGI jokes, and I will probably not be watching it for that reason.
I like artificial grape flavor, but I hate real grapes.  A paradox!?
