QuoteDisaster Movie: Unrated >>>> $29.99

I'd like to see the chumps who would buy this, especially at that ridiculous price.

Chump #1: "Hey look!  Disaster Movie on Blu Ray for only $30!"
Chump #2: "Sweet!"
Chump #3: "I hope it has director's commentary!"

bratpop

I dunno if it's movie related, but some psychotic goth chick once tried desperately to convince me there was a (Neil Gaiman's) Sandman cartoon in the 80s.

Somewhere out there, an Italian guy pretending to be Native American, standing over a landfill filled with copies of those movies, sheds a tear.
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

I once knew somebody who insisted that Mike TeeVee's name had something to do with transvestism.

That is stupid, it refers to his "mother's" transvestism obviously.

I remember talking to a coworker a few months back about Star Wars and having our superviser interrupt us by saying "I don't get why so many people complain about the prequels.  Jar Jar is the best character in the whole series."

This is a man in his early thirties and I know sarcasm is a lost concept for him.

I'm happy that most of my friends can know a crap movie when they see a trailer for it.

I once heard a guy state that he enjoyed something I disliked.  That was nuts.
I can't think of any time where someone's been grossly inaccurate (outside Elaine's boyfriend who said Dustin Hoffman was in "Star Wars"), but I've heard several things more akin to Thrifty's comment:

4.) Working at a video store across from a theater, "Van Helsing" had just let out, the guy and his girl checking out some movies called it one of the best movies he'd ever seen.  Presumably he woke up the next morning and realized he was an idiot.

3.) A close and very intelligent friend of mine who has what I'd call reliable taste in movies has one glaring flaw:  He says M. Night Shyamalan hasn't made a bad movie.  He was confused by "Lady In the Water" but it warranted a second viewing until he called it a good movie.  Shyamalan showed so much promise at first.  Look up "diminishing returns" in the dictionary and you won't be able to find it because that's two words.

2.) I broke up with my ex-girlfriend because she called "White Chicks" the greatest comedy ever... in our American Literature class.  I later told her "Memento" was a great movie.  I told her she wouldn't like it.  She begged me to show it to her.  She regretted all 2hrs of sitting through it (despite thoroughly understanding what had happened... which absolutely blew my friggin mind).

1.) My all-time FAVORITE ridiculous movie-related thing ever said though happens to be my all-time favorite movie review.  It comes from IMDb user Imigrantka.  I'll post the whole review of his/hers for the MST3k-ed "Jack Frost" (you can just hear that thick Russian accent):

Watched this movie over and over on Russian TV. It is really on TV each year a few time on diff channels. I can understand that so many people didn't understand WHAT this movie (tale) about. Its simple! You are NOT Russians! Thats it.

And i think that was stupid to make bad comments about movie, that u did not understand. Have you even tried? I don't think so.

Not knowing Russian culture whatsoever will not help you to get it. It only helps to MISunderstand it.

First it made me angry to see that someone is trying to make fun of it. But the more i read of Ur comments the more i laugh at you!

Just so you know, people all over the world, we are all different! Every culture, every single one. And i don't get sometimes some of American traditions and stuff, because i am not American.

Don't you think it is pathetic to see buy in Moscow t-shirt "I have been to Moscow there are no bears" Only stupid would do it.

Think about it

Ah, so it's MISunderstandery Science Theater 3000. It all makes sense now.

I thought Lady in the Water was much stronger a movie than some of Shymalan's previous attempts (esp. The Village).  Certainly not on the level of his earlier stuff, but a pretty decent movie in its own right.

That fit into the general thread well enough?

The most ridiculous movie-related thing I've ever heard is my brother telling me that he was a big geek because he liked Star Wars.  Well, gee, if one series dictates your entire character, I guess since I liked Sports Night, I must be a damn big sports jock.  Never mind that the former is just overall a good sci-fi series (if you ignore the prequels) and the latter has very little to do with sports.  My logic is flawless!

Grillslinger

Are you ready for these?

A friend called Mummy Returns "a great adventure movie...it reminded me of Raiders of the Lost Ark".

Here's the really bad one...a few years ago, I was giving a classmate a lift. The academy awards had just aired and she said (without joking), "What about Catwoman? And The Italian Job? Those were both really good. Why didn't they get anything?

Doctor Who?

I enjoyed The Mummy Returns.

My mom has good taste in movies most of the time but she think Keanue Reeves is a really good actor and gets upset whenever anyone on tv or at home makes fun of him.

I do too, actually. Think it's a good amount of stupid fun (third one still sucked).

daltysmilth

Yeah, The Mummy Returns is fairly decent, although the CG version of the Rock was crappy even by the standards of CG when it was made.
