It was something about how in order to make the kessel run, the course would run you right through a hazzardous something-or-other, and the closer you got to the something-or-other, the more dangerous the run would be, but the shorter the distance. Han, therefore, got impressively close to the something-or-other, reducing the number of parsecs he needed to travel.

Sounds like a bunch of fanboy drivel intended to cover someone's ass (either Han's or Lucas').

Look, it's really simple. It's pure genetics. The FIRST storm troopers were all clones of a single person. So they had the same abilities as their clone source (Jango Fett). But now, all the storm troopers we have are the result of inbreeding between all of those clones and the women who thought storm troopers were cool. The imperial gene pool was ruined by lack of diversity, hence all current storm troopers suck ass. QED.

By the time of Episode IV the Empire was using recruits and different clone sources. So they weren't all Jango clones.

You have any idea how much that costs?

New recuits are cheaper.

I am relaxed, but pointing out Lucas flaws is practically a sport now.   ;D

Damn, I was going to say the same exact thing. The clones (some) became the special forces and most were pretty much dead from being so old because of the growth stimulants used to get them to a fighting age for the clone wars. Jango Fett told the clone makers to not use any in Bobba Fett. So thats why he is still around (Even tho he was thought to be killed in Episode 6 he was able to get out of the pit and continue onto the extended universe)

The Storm troopers from episode 4 and beyond are usualy recruits or conscripts. Each planet had its required draft rate and were even attacked if they didnt comply. Many of the planets also had a Rebel influence and were able to recruit some of the imperial recruit to the cause. So many of the current storm troopers would be from planets that would have some sort of disloyalty towards the Empire and thus fighting for a cause they didn't believe in with the persecution of there home planet they would be less likely to fight properly or at his fullest. Also those effing helmets would screw up anyones aim  :D

Sigh i know to much about this junk. Anyone else know how Admiral Akbar really dies? "Its a trap!"

It's sad that some people can't tell the difference between a fucking joke and a serious attempt at an explanation. :)

The reason is that every time a hapless rebel kills a stormtrooper, they have to throw some random Imperial into a suit to make everyone think they still have vast armies ready to crush the rebellion, since it "takes time to create more (clones)," but then they forget who's a clone and who's not and never get around to ordering more real soldiers. By the time you get around to Episode IV, there's tons of filing clerks, pilots, mouse droid repairmen and janitors walking around in stormtrooper costumes afraid to question their orders for fear of being choked to death by Lord Vader. This will all be explained in the first episode of Star Wars: The Series.

As the only person in this thread so far that can actually claim to have worn a suit of armor (Neeeeerd!) , I can say without a shred of doubt that a Stormtrooper helmet is the absolute last thing i would ever wear when going into a combat situation. You might as well drink half a bottle of Soco before heading out into the battlefield, you'd be so useless.

Also, another theory about stormtrooper armor that is a pet theory, yet compelling as hell: The belts are holding battery packs designed to shock the trooper to death if he's injured. Better to kill the wounded trooper than to have other troopers trying to drag him off the battlefield, thereby removing 3 troopers from the battle instead of the more efficient 1.

Perhaps it's not the stormtroopers but rather the blasters, that because they fire lasers instead of bullets they are much less precise but have more ammo as an advantage and the best way to hit something is to aim through the sights? So I think that's why Stormtroopers are much more "precise" than everyone else because the weapons are made by the empire.

In reality a laser would be more accurate than ANY bullet. Speed of light, zero perceived recoil and not affected by normal gravity, a laser would be more precise and accurate than any bullet.

Still doesn't explain Boba's uselessness, unless the act of picking his own dead father's head drove him into an alcoholic depression that killed all his abilities.

Where's all this shit about boba fett being useless come from? He's the only one who caught on to solo's garbage dump trick...
