Yeah, something is telling me this guy is trololoing.

Yes, because not being a Tollkien groupie and having a different opinion is just a bad thing.   ::)  I completely agree with that poster.

I'm completely serious.  I've never seen any LOTR movie (won't ever even under the threat of death).

And how the fuck am I supposed to know this movie takes place whenever the fuck it does??  I've never read the damn books!!!

I think Tollkien was JRR's distant cousin who worked bridges.
Definitely no relation to James Tolkan, the bald guy from Top Gun and Masters of the Universe.

Well, it is pretty common pop culture knowledge. I've never read any of the books, and I knew that The Hobbit came out first (and was a little more kid oriented).

Knowing nothing about the books and seeing the trailer, with Gandalf addressing a younger Bilbo than was in the LOTR trailers, it seems like you would come to the conclusion that this is a Hollywood prequel, not a ripoff.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter, since you say you don't have any interest in the movies anyway. But just realize that this is actually a "prequel" and takes place before the LOTR trilogy. And since it's made by the same people and has a similar budget, it will likely satisfy those who like the LOTR movies.

Not that I am trying to mitigate anyone's behavior, but mouthbreathing isn't always a bad thing. According to Uhura, Kirk was a mouthbreather too.

Waited until seeing Tintin to watch the teaser. I wonder if any of the former Farscape crew snuck onto this film's crew...I got a Luxan vibe from a few of those dwarf designs.

Just finished rereading the book, there are so many things I want to see in this movie CoughBeornCough,  but what is with all those shots of galagrial (sic) and gandalph in the trailer.
