I'm getting the hang of this call center business. There's a couple of things I'm finding out as I'm taking calls. You want them to be kind of upset when they call in, because when they are, and you help them with whatever they're calling about, it makes them feel GREAT, and it makes YOU feel great. Plus, if you say the right things, you can diffuse that anger almost IMMEDIATELY, which not only puts you in charge of the call, but it makes them feel way more confident that you're going to help the shit out of them(figure of speech). Another thing is to have fun with the customer, if you can, because if you're having fun, they're probably going to enjoy the experience of calling into customer service. I've had several customers call in where they were pretty annoyed about what had been happening to their account/phone/whatever, and I've been able to get them calmed down, and generally to the point where they're LAUGHING, which is AWESOME. My only concern is that I've failed a survey, because I had no idea what to do with the situation, because I got connected to a Spanish speaking customer, and I didn't know that I was allowed to transfer them to that department at that time in the morning. Luckily, that's getting taken care of, and I know that I CAN do that now, so it won't end up as a strike against me.

Oh, and yesterday was WAY easier on me. kept my energy up all freakin' day.

Speaking of..
I just called DISH about my wife's delinquent account ($200) because they charged my credit card for her delinquent payment and not hers! I told them that if they didn't reverse the charge ASAP, I would be filing an Unauthorized Transaction dispute with the bank and the rep was very helpful in getting the charge reversed so I wouldn't have to call the bank 8)

Boss told me today that with just a little bit of work, I could be the best agent on the team. AWESOME!

I didn't have a panic attack or get fired for job abandonment today, so that's a plus. On the downside, I'm completely exhausted and about as goofy as I get while intoxicated.

FINALLY got GarageBand up & running again (10.0.1 on Mavericks) after the issue of it not being able to play back audio.

Solution:
QuoteIf GarageBand 10 has no sound, baut GarageBand 6.0.5 has, quit GarageBand, log off and on again, and then remove the preferences.
That brought the sound back for me.
Open your user Library and remove everything in
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/
and any files with "com.apple.garageband10" in the name in ~/Library/Preferences
Then log off and on again, before opening GarageBand again.

To open your hidden User Library, use the Finder's "Go" menu. If you hold down the ⌥-key, "Library" will be shon in the "Go" menu.

This is why I love Amazon.com

Monday I ordered a smaller kitchen wooden cutting board and a small bottle of mineral oil (for the monthly rubbing up and seasoning your cutting boards OF COURSE) and it should have come on Wednesday from FedEx.  Wednesday night it was not here yet so I checked the tracking online and it read "Box is damaged, delivery delayed".  I am guessing they are saying the mineral oil was leaking in the box.  Anyway, I assumed it would come on Thursday.  Alas, when I got home I had a phone message from a TERRIBLE computer voice at Fed-Ex saying something like "Box is broken, come to Fed Ex and pick it up".  Of course, they did not say WHERE in Houston it was.  Houston is kind of big city with 1000 locations.  So, I called Amazon to tell them and some guy there thought that sounded weird and he asked if I would not mind listening to a call he would make with Fed Ex to see just when they would delivery it.  The Fed Ex woman must have been based in india or something as all she could say was the box was to be picked up "in Houston" and she would not tell either of us where it was.

The Amazon guy was almost laughing and told the lady goodbye.  He apologized for it and said he would send me the items the next day from UPS.  And they came.

I asked him how he would get the stuff back to Amazon from Fed Ex and almost laughed and said it will mean a few documents have to be filled out and it will take awhile.

I love them.

I'm sure that's what Mitchell claimed it was for too.  ::)

Fed Ex is the worst fucking delivery service.  They routinely fuck up my orders; they get stuck at delivery centers, they show up late, they send them to the wrong address, etc. UPS, meanwhile, delivers them to my side porch every time.

Want an example of the good things labor unions can do?  This is it right here.  Happy workers mean your packages don't get fucked up.

My dad is finally home from the hospital.  :)
Still a LONG road to recovery/whatever the new "normal" will be, but at least he's home now.

I'm actually getting something back from taxes this year. Last year I owed state double what I got back from federal, this year I get double back from federal what I owe state.

So true. The only times I've EVER been delayed has been when the item was in their incompetent hands. Never have any problems with UPS.

Oddly though, the ones I really have to apologize for at work is Ontrac.

So my PC is all upgraded now. Everything defaults to Ultra settings when I install games. That gives me a little semi-chubby, I have to admit. I asked my tech friend what the blood price was for installing some of the more difficult parts for me. I am to provide 2 pounds of my homemade elk and beef jerky for his trip to Burning Man.

All things considered, I got off light.

Plus, people love my jerky.  ;D
