This is why I love Amazon.com

Monday I ordered a smaller kitchen wooden cutting board and a small bottle of mineral oil (for the monthly rubbing up and seasoning your cutting boards OF COURSE) and it should have come on Wednesday from FedEx.  Wednesday night it was not here yet so I checked the tracking online and it read "Box is damaged, delivery delayed".  I am guessing they are saying the mineral oil was leaking in the box.  Anyway, I assumed it would come on Thursday.  Alas, when I got home I had a phone message from a TERRIBLE computer voice at Fed-Ex saying something like "Box is broken, come to Fed Ex and pick it up".  Of course, they did not say WHERE in Houston it was.  Houston is kind of big city with 1000 locations.  So, I called Amazon to tell them and some guy there thought that sounded weird and he asked if I would not mind listening to a call he would make with Fed Ex to see just when they would delivery it.  The Fed Ex woman must have been based in india or something as all she could say was the box was to be picked up "in Houston" and she would not tell either of us where it was.

The Amazon guy was almost laughing and told the lady goodbye.  He apologized for it and said he would send me the items the next day from UPS.  And they came.

I asked him how he would get the stuff back to Amazon from Fed Ex and almost laughed and said it will mean a few documents have to be filled out and it will take awhile.

I love them.

And the fedex computer voice keeps calling me daily to say this package is waiting for me.  Despite amazon calling them, telling them to stop calling me as the delivery is cancelled.   Apparently they will call for ten straight days.

Amazon already send me the replacement package ( UPS this time), so FedEx is really messed up.

'Hello Mr. Bob. This is FedEx calling to remind you that Your package is waiting to be picked up at one of our many FedEx locations in your area. We hope you will stop by each of them to see if it is there and if not, be sure to flip off our apathetic employees at each location. Thank you and have a nice day.' :)

Bob

Basically, that is it.  They mumble the address and I believe it is at a location downtown, about an hour away from me.

Since Amazon already has UPS send one to me, really don't feel like driving two hours round trip to get a cutting board that has oil dripping all over it.

Relaxing Dragon

I've been remarkably busy as of late, and haven't had a chance to write this up until now. But I figure I should at least say something.

The teeny tiny little ambulance company I worked for at the end of last year is no more. It has been sold off to a considerably larger company (hundreds of employees and rigs), and they've taken us EMTs along with them. Which worked out perfectly for me, since I had been planning to move onto larger things in the near future anyway. The old company was a foot in the door for a lot of EMS folks, myself included. The idea is you start there, hang around for six months or so, then try for a bigger place. This just moved up my timetable considerably, and made the hiring process a lot less stressful.

Of course, there's still plenty of stress to be found working the actual job. The old company was, for lack of a better term, a sloppy one. Not so here. It's all business, all professional, and a place where you have to know your stuff and do a good job. I've been fine enough so far, even with all the mistakes I made during training days (I get extra nervous when someone is judging me on doing things), but I'm still quite nervous. I've got big hopes for this profession, so I've got to keep myself together. Luckily I'm also super duper excited about it. Should be an interesting ride at the very least.

Also, worked my first graveyard shift on Sunday night. An experience to be sure, and rather calming. Also, [adult swim] shows some weird, weird stuff at 4 in the morning. Just sayin'.

I wish you guys would chat in instead of call. Any day but Tuesday or Wednesday and you stand a very good chance of getting me.

But I don't like to Chat :'(
Just gimme your direct phone number ;D

anais.butterfly

I don't like to chat because everytime I do, with practically every company, what I need to get done can't get done via chat. So I end up having to call in anyway.

I had to look into it and see my payrol supervisor about it, but I confirmed it.  My company pays out all of thier employee's unused sick time from the previous year.  I should have recieved it a couple weeks ago, but my name didn't pop up on thier report correctly.  It's fixed now, so I'm going to get 28 EXTRA HOURS of pay for next week.

I'm pretty much the opposite here.  One way to get me to not bother with customer service is to make it phone call only. I'd rather write a letter than talk on the phone.

Well I don't want to call, that is why I use chat.

And I have worked in a call center, and I know what kind of people are sent to the letter department.
