Well we don't KNOW that he's going to go all in with his usual trademark gory-horror. Maybe he'll play it straight-up and add a bit of an edge, Addams Family style.
I haven't seen many of his films, most of them I just know by reputation admittedly, but has he shown any real range as a director yet?

Also, does anyone give AF about The Munster?
The Munsters are enough of a widely known classic sitcom that Wandavision parodied their theme song for the big villain reveal. So at least a lot of people know of them, even if they haven't actually seen it. I don't think the general public would necessarily mind a few changes, but a massive overhaul of the tone might drive people off.

I still think NBC missed the mark when they didn't go all in on the Mockingbird Lane series. Eddie Izzard as Grandpa was fantastic.

As for this version, at least its something we know Rob cares about. You don't name the biggest single from your solo album after The Munster's car if you're only a casual fan.

Eddie Izzard was the only really good part of that show, though.

Paul W. S. Anderson claimed to be a fan of the Alien and Predator franchises too.

I liked Jerry O'Connell as Herman too, and while things were a bit clunky in the writing at times, I chalk that up to the standard pilot-exposition issues.

And I'm not going to stand here and claim that I know Rob is going to make a good movie just because he's a big fan. His hit/miss record with me is not great.

I actually did like his Halloween remake, for many of the same reasons that other people hate it. Giving Myers more backstory and seeing how he grew into a monster was more effective to me than the original "he's just evil, deal with it" depiction. I never made it through his sequel though.

I can't stand watching House of 1000 Corpses, it just makes me feel sick to my stomach and uneasy without giving me anything to make the experience worthwhile.  I tried Devil's Rejects and can acknowledge that its a better made movie, but I still don't care much because I hate most of the characters. Three From Hell I tried once, and it made me realize that Sig Haig is the only part I could really stand, and him being in almost none of it because of his health sank every bit of interest I had left.

Everybody I see online is making Shadow Over Innsmouth jokes about this, and it just makes me want to see Pixar make an actual horror movie.

This reminds me to re-watch Monster House
