I think that sex riffs (that sounds...suggestive...) would turn out to be like riffing action scenes, which can be really boring (not all the time).   Since sex scenes are, by nature, repetitive (with the exception of Watchmen's bizarre thirty positions in two minutes sex scene...I could see riffing that, actually), I think too many of them would end up like  the "Amway bit" from Avatar.

And back on the subject of dirty jokes.....I just watched The Matrix again.....forgot about those Paris Hilton and George Michael jokes...

They aren't above it.

There's also the "dome Blowing" scene from Battlefield Earth.  "Above it" may have been a poor choice of words, but I do think dirty jokes are easier to make then clean ones.
Well, I guess we can all agree to semi-disagree.

By the way, anyone up for a fan-written Showgirls?   ;)

Thanks for reminding me of how badly I want them to riff Watchmen. :(

Yes, but then you get into another of my least favorite jokes:  yelling in agony at nudity.  I get it-you're heterosexual.

I just realize that in this thread, I sound like an overly sensitive prude.  Believe it or not, folks, there are jokes in Rifftrax that I DO like
I like artificial grape flavor, but I hate real grapes.  A paradox!?

Well that's a carry over from MST3K....(the pool scene in Parts - begs the question, when does it become "protesting too much"?)   ;)

Watchman

Nick Nolte jokes whenever a film shows a back alley or dumpster.

I like the Nolte joke in Dr. Moreau when the Law-Giver is giving his "Are we not men?!" sermon & they joke "Nick Nolte's one-man show."

But all the others I've heard aren't dissimilar from Tonight Show fodder. I think they should do a riff for Hulk and get the Nolte jokes out of their system.

ScottotD

Scientology jokes, anything way too lazy and easy beaten into the ground.
Scottotd on Instagram

"A thing I like that there was no chance would ever continue until recently is now continuing but it doesn't meet my exact personal specifications so fuck this"

- how I read any complaint about MST3k (or Star Wars or Ghostbusters)

I helped write the Quiptracks riff of HULK, and beleive me, all it does is fan the flames of imagination for Nolte jokes.

I'm not really sure Nolte was aware he was in a movie.  He was just playing himself.

Bonus:  I just watched Cape Fear, where Nick Nolte is a pretty straight-laced character.  It threw me off until the end, when he's soaking wet on the side of a river and screaming.  That's the Nolte we all know and love!

Maverick Joe Six-Pack

I love Cole & Janet, but I feel like they go to the well too often for the Cookie Monster esq riffs like "Me want..." or "Baby like"

Those do get a  ::) from me, but I still like them.

Making a Kelsey Grammer joke whenever someone crashed a car. I haven't seen that joke in awhile, though. So, I'm thinking maybe they've gotten sick of it, too.

Making a joke about Daddy Day Camp or According to Jim.

Yes, they sucked, but there are other things that suck as much, or worse. I can't think of any RIGHT NOW, but I'm sure if you gave some time to think about it.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

I think "Gary, Unmarried" and "Accidentally On Purpose" took over there....which is interesting since I don't think anyone watched them or will remember them a year from now.

Heh. The guys linked to the TVtropes listing for Rifftrax yesterday and there's this note under "Running Gags":

QuoteReferences to Kelsey Grammer's car accident

    * This might even be bordering on Mythology Gag territory, as they were making this joke as far back as the MST3K riff of Puma Man

Puma Man was a 1998 release. At this point, I expect them to keep using that riff for a while.

I know.....but Charlie Sheen just had 2 or 3 cars "stolen" and end up at the bottom of cliffs.....can't this joke be "freshened up" a bit?
