FINE

ihavemyreasons

OMG...for some reason I thought backers weren't getting any new access until the downloads on Thursday. Now wishing I would have taken the day off of work.

They aren't... but all episodes are streaming for backers of $85 or up.  For $35, just the first new ep is streaming again.  Which is fine because I'm patient and I can still watch that killer new theme song again and again.

Variety of Cells

Might not get a chance to watch the rest till this weekend.  But that's ok because then I can stream them on Netflix where it does more good.

WhyDontTheyLook

Yeah... while I will start downloading the episodes on Thursday, I'm saving my sweet, sweet eyeballage for Netflix.

And BBC America, but only for an hour on Saturday.

Will likely watch 3 or 4 this week before Netflix, but will switch to Netflix for the rest and for the 2nd viewings. And thanks to no ISP cap, I'll probably have episodes running in the background for months. Need to get those Netflix "ratings" up for a Season 12 to happen.

Pak-Man

It was revealed a while back that Netflix has collected data on how many episodes it takes on average before the average viewer watches the whole thing. I can't wait to see the data that suggests that the average first time viewer of MST3K watches the entire series like a hundred times.

I'm surprised they brought back the Invention Exchange. And did Kinga just say that her "invention that week was the movie itself?

Too be fair, Clayton's used that dodge before.  Frankly, I would love the invention from this episode.  I'm just REALLY glad they brought back letters.  I'm not sure what I think about moving it to a middle sketch rather than the end, but whatevs.

I liked them moving it, because they actually got through two of them. Plenty of other times they get cut off because there are other things going on in the end segment.

Was kind of surprised by the letters only because of the way the season was filmed all at once. Guess I shouldn't have been surprised as the letters don't need to be Jonah/new season specific.

Another couple of things that surprised me were some of the self references- referring to the show by name, as a show, and the reference to Netflix

I noticed that too. I think that's the first time it's ever actually been called Mystery Science Theater 3000 on the show.

I like that Kinga has a different motivation that Clayton or Pearl. Although Clayton has mentioned selling the rights to television before. Remember Timmy Bobby Rusty?. And Pearl's original motivation was revenge for Clayton (even though she killed him). I would think eventually they will make Kinga more outwardly evil, as that is just more fun.

I've only seen the first episode, so I don't know if Wil Wheaton and the lady he was talking to in the first scene will come back. Their scene was rather clunky exposition. But if there is an added subplot through the season about Gizmonic Institute trying to save Jonah, that would be a nice change of pace.

Had to keg a batch of homebrew when I got home and move another batch to a secondary and then cleanup, so didn't get started watching until later then I intended. Going to hold off on detailed spoilers until the weekend (and avoid those other threads until then), but I thought experiment 2 was a pretty big improvement over 1 (likely due in large part to the movie). Still trying to nail down which riffer is which though.

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't have any trouble differentiating between the riffers. Part of that I guess is that I've been listening to Jonah on the Nerdist podcast for years now, and Hampton's Crow just sounds so much like a cross between Trace and Bill that he's pretty easy.
