Another couple of things that surprised me were some of the self references- referring to the show by name, as a show, and the reference to Netflix
I noticed that too. I think that's the first time it's ever actually been called Mystery Science Theater 3000 on the show.

What about all the times Servo read out the address of the "Mystery Science Theater 3000 Information Club" on the show?

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't have any trouble differentiating between the riffers. Part of that I guess is that I've been listening to Jonah on the Nerdist podcast for years now, and Hampton's Crow just sounds so much like a cross between Trace and Bill that he's pretty easy.
I think when Yount and Vaughn become a bit more comfortable with puppeteering, it will help. It's clear they're not quite there yet (At least as of episode 2) They don't always look like they're talking. The old guard was good at giving the puppets a little bit of a bounce when they were talking. Also sometimes they forget to move the mouth. But that takes time.

I spent parts of experiment 2 watching Tom and Crow trying to figure out who was riffing and yeah, that didn't help much (at least not yet).

That is true.

I can't remember specific episodes, but I know I remember hearing Joel refer to the theater as "The Mystery Science Theater."

Young and Vaughn are not their own puppeteers. They only control the mouth movement from a remote. Joel didn't feel they would have time to get comfortable with the puppets, as there was more pressure on this season to live up to a higher standard. Plus, now their arms move.

I just noticed the statement on VHX that says "Please do not discuss or share titles, plot points, jokes..."

Perhaps we should stop discussing these for a couple days.

I *think* they mean don't spoil things for people, which spoiler threads should protect? The MST3K Revival League has spoiler threads (set up as events) and Joel seems fine with that.
FINE

ihavemyreasons

One of Joel's most recent updates listed a few forums where people could go to share and while this forum wasn't specifically on his list, I think it would apply here seeing as how we alll are backers or else wouldn't be viewing early. He just asked that everyone keep specifics and film titles and spoilers (and to clearly identify spoilers as spoilers) to a minimum and to support and encourage Netflix viewing to increase the chance of a Season 12 happening. (And I'm paraphrasing.)

I think most of us (myself included) have kept specifics and spoilers to a minimum.

I'm through 4 episodes so far and episode 2 has far and away been my favorite.

I'm dying to converse about certain specifics and spoilers, but holding off until after Friday.

I'll be watching ep 3 tonight, then I'm out of town for a few days! Worst time for the episodes to drop ;P

OK. In the first ep Mike boards the SoL, kills Jonah and resumes hosting duties. I can see why Joel didn't want that getting out.

They aren't bad in the host segments but it is pretty bad in the theater. Probably doesn't help that in the silhouettes they are just miming to the previously recorded riffs.

Have they talked about how those are done yet? Are they definitely prerecorded?

Yes in the various news stories published recently they've talked about days in the recording studio recording the films (2 per day), then going to the theatre to record the motions.
