The Lurker

From what I've heard, the remake has the problem with characters knowing more than they should.

Dun Dun Duuuunnn!

I don't get it, are they making part 23 or something?

Number 14 actually.  Didn't find out about it until recently.

Fair enough, why the dramatic sting though?

Partly for humorous effect, partly for "Oh geez, there's another one?".  I just feel like the series has gone on for too long, which is a shame because they can tell great stories for kids and the parents with the characters if they actually cared enough beyond milking the franchise.

I'm sure they're fine

If they're on-par with the sequels they were cranking out back when I was still part of the target demographic, then no. They're not.

So is Land Before Time the most sequeled movie ever, yet?

Good question. I think Witchcraft had 13 movies, and now this beats it. I don't think the National Lampoon series counts because they aren't numbered and they are just unrelated movies.
Otherwise, I'd say Godzilla, but there are a lot of them in the newer series' that only treat the original as cannon. So not sure how to number them.

Yeah, this one's tough, because at some point the line between a direct sequel and a film in a related universe or some other such thing gets fairly blurred.

According to that, Land Before Time is fairly high, and certainly one of the longest if you're counting feature-length films (some of those aren't, which is a bit of a cheat I feel). It certainly got ahead of Friday the 13th, which was actually going to be my guess for a longer-running series.

The Lurker

Howling series doesn't count past the first 2 movies.

Not to mention, some of the Friday the 13th ones seem more like standalone movies.  We're not counting the Land Before Time animated series, right?

Very true. Are the Land Before Time movies all connected like direct sequels? I think I made it to the fifth one back when I was little, and at this point everything past the first one is a total blur.

Though for animated series, those are right out. Because once you factor those in, a lot of Anime blows past the competition without a second thought. I mean, Case Closed has 17 movies and 783 TV episodes).
