Rewatched Thor.  Still a fun, goofy movie, but I still have the same problem with it: it has problems transitioning Loki from jealous troublemaker to out-and-out villain.  It feels like there's some character beats, as well as a few more moments of seeing the two brothers getting along so that the betrayal has more sting.  Still, Tom is good in the role (which gets better in the subsequent films) and Hemsworth is perfectly charming as Thor.

Thor is hot! Sorry, I made a promise to Swipe, but my bi-sexuality rises up (no pun intended), when I think about "Thor" What's that actor's name? He is a tall drink of water....

Super hot.

Sorry... sorry...

LOVE!

REV. RANDY!

John Carter, who the hell is that? Oh? He's from Mars? Well, why didn't you say so in the first place?
This winter he's planning on being John Carter of Cancun for a couple of weeks.

RandyMistie

Yes! John Carter of Cincinnati, for a brief period.

BTW! That actor was super hot as well... What was his name?

OK. Quick!

John Carter of Mars vs. Miles from Tomorrowland, vs. Joan of Arcadia vs. Jenny from the Block. Who'd win?

Swipe, You do realize that's just plastic, right?

Although, I must say, Patrick Stewart was in great shape for his age. I would totally do him, if I was into that sort of thing. Which I am NOT!

I am totally NOT obsessed with the CAWK like Swipe says I am... Do not believe his lies about me!

From what Ive heard the movie sucked like a Hoover, so keeping the original name probably wouldnt have saved it from being a steaming turd.

Half of the problem is that people went by what they heard and didn't watch it themselves.

More than half. Groupmind.  People were so eager for this to fail that it made it a self-fulfilling prophecy.  I don't know anyone who saw the movie who disliked it.

Same, though I know few who saw it.

Fair enough - Though I never understand you taste in movies.

Nothing wrong with that, taste in movies is subjective and all that, but your posts in this thread often boggle my mind...

I do try to write up a little more detailed reviews to explain (as much as possible) why. I know I did when I posted my initial review of John Carter way back when it came out.

Yeah, here it is:

John Carter - *sigh* I really didn't care for this movie much. I just found it a slow slog of a movie that went from kinda fun to stupid to boring and back and forth between them. I really didn't give a shit about the human cultures, or the WAY too much time we send at the beginnig of the movie on Earth. The creatures were far more interesting. Had we spent enough time with the Tharks to develope their culture, it would have been something better than just a confusing mixture of native american and 300esque Spartans. The princess was supposed to be a "tough smart chick", but she does stupid things (that get her own people killed) just so the plot can happen. I still don't really know what the "plan" was of the Therns (and it was really not a good idea to have two different cultures with such similar names, I don't care if it was from the books). And I found them to be even less dignified versions of the Observers from MST3K. Kinda hard to take seriously.

Same with The Lone Ranger, most people I heard talk about it said some variation of "Depp plays a Native American, it's stupid" but anyone who looked beyond that seemed to say it was decent if too long.  I never saw it myself but a possibly dumb casting choice rarely defines a movie for me

I know, I mean in general. Like your general dismissal of film noir or gangster films (despite many films within those genres being considered some of the best films ever made, Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard, The Godfather etc etc) and yet you seeming to have nothing but time for sub-Syfy quality movies.

Anyway, like I say, whatever floats your boat, I just don't get it.
