, and I don't understand how Johnny and Sue are going to be brother and sister.

You don't understand how adoption, step-families or mixed race children work?

I suppose they could be half siblings or step siblings or something, but I would imagine they would explain it with clumsy exposition. Whatever, I don't really care that much.

Honestly, today you could probably just have them call each other brother and sister and have one shot of their parents in a framed photograph and let people figure it out on their own.  I'm not sure that's what they'll do, but it would work.

They should hire the people that make really good trailers to make movies.

Isn't that basically what they did with Michael Bay?

The ideal trailer is one that gets you excited, not just for special effects but gives you an emotional investment. For example, the Age of Ultron trailer made me say "I want to see this movie because I care about these people and I hate to see what they could potentially lose in this conflict, but at the same time that makes me all the more excited to see what they're willing to sacrifice to fight this war in the dim hope of winning the day".

Trailers used to be SO much better, even than that one. But those days I fear are long gone. :(

Darth Geek

Eh, that was only marginally funny. I'd like to see Isle of Rangoon do a proper riff of the trailer, the'yre much funnier.

I didn't notice, but Mister Fantastic with that mask on looks like a nerdy Sub Zero from Mortal Kombat. Surprised they didn't make a joke about that. You know, as long as the story is good I don't think I would complain about how faithful it is to the source material.

Darth Geek

Well, The Thing looks good. As much as I am a proponent of practical effects, he is actually one that probably shouldn't be done that way.

RandyMistie

Certainly better than Mike Chiklis in a rubber suit. I mean, from what I have seen, this movie is going to be light years ahead and away from those first movies.... Excellent Rifftrax... really bad FF movies.

To be fair, we haven't really seen much of anything yet. And there is also the changes they are making to Doom. A hacker or something, I think. I'm still holding any enthusiasm in check for this.

RandyMistie

That's fair, Darth.... I guess I just got excited to see a more serious FF movie. Or, at least a hint of something better...

You are right, of course, reserved enthusiasm is the way to go...

I am excited, DG, but your comment about anticipation for Van Helsing has me scared.

I do remember being excited for Van Helsing. And I also remember that by the time it came out on DVD I had actually forgotten how bad it was when I had seen it in the theater. So I bought the DVD, thinking "hey, this is the movie with the cool looking creatures starring Hugh Jackman". It was only a few minutes in that I realized. So yeah, I don't like to let scant visual impressions really sway me anymore.

And of course, then several years later Quiptracks comes along and makes one of my favorite riffs ever. And I have subsequently watched this movie like a hundred times.

Jonalame, your Icon has me sacred!
