You're one hell of an optimist.

I'm (mostly) joking.  If they did that it might make for a more interesting spin on it. Darker doesn't seem to really be the tone I'd expect from FF.

From what I've seen of this movie, it's not so much darker tone as it is just a dimly lit movie.

At the very least the reviews I've seen don't point to the performances as a problem, but more the ongoing boredom of yet another origin story.

The Lurker

There's also them not meeting up as a superhero team until the last part of the movie.

I've never been a fan of Fantastic Four.  Maybe separately they can be interesting, but together, I don't really care about them (except for Reed.  He pretty much sucks no matter what).

The Lurker

I remember someone speculating that Dr. Doom is the real hero in the comics and such because he keeps Reed distracted enough to prevent him from accidentally causing havoc (or ending the world) with his experiments.

At this point I just want to see FF movie rights revert back to Marvel, not for the team itself or a better FF movie, but because I want a scene of Dr Doom being afraid of Squirrel Girl someday.

What makes me sad is that if you believe Red Letter Media's opinion on Roger Corman's Fantastic Four movie, then it is arguably the best Fantastic Four movie ever made. But for me? I still think Rise of the Silver Surfer is still the best one, despite all the problems that movie had.

Darth Geek

My only question is if the right revert back to Marvel will they have to push off other movies to fit a FF movie into the release schedule.

I think the solution is obvious... don't make another Fantastic Four movie. Just shoehorn in the characters so they have major roles in Avengers/Spider-man/Captain America/Thor/Iron Man movies.

I'm pretty sure that since SG was a mutant at the time that Fox bailed Marvel out, she may have been part of the X-Men bundle of rights. They may already be able to do that movie.

Oh dear God, I can't imagine how bad a Squirrel Girl movie would be at the hands of Fox!

Maybe it would be a combination of the Fox... and the Hound... if you get my meaning.
