Could you hear the Riff tonight @ Godzilla?

It was tough till a minute or so after Kevin asked for more audio.

Unrelated - anyone know the artist on the song "Not this time" that was playing during the credits?  It's a really funny song but I can't find it online anywhere.

I *think* it was a little bit better tonight but I'm not entirely sure.  I heard more riffs, I think, but there were still a great many I did not hear and I'm still not sure if it was on Rifftrax's part or the theater's part when it came to how they had their speakers balanced.  Most of the unheard riffs came during loud action scenes (with loud music, monster noises, weapons fire, etc.) where it seemed that either the guy's audio channel wasn't isolated and louder than the movie enough or maybe some sound ducking of the movie should have been occurring on RT's end during the original taping.

Still a funny riff, but can't say it left me with too great a theater experience in this particular case and I'm not sure where to put the blame.  On my theater or in someone involved in the production of the event on the technical side of things?

Anyway, probably enjoyed it more the second time (it did *seem* like I heard more) but still left overall disappointed.  But I don't put any blame on Rifftrax's part as they certainly made a good product it's just it seems "something" happened on the technical side that's likely out of the guys' complete control.

Anyway, see you in October for Anaconda.

There were some audio issues in Memphis.

I sat in the center of the theater.  Sound track and effects on the left, guys, center-right.   I estimate I missed maybe 10 jokes, total.  And had to strain to hear about 10 more.  The rest was fine.

However. the sound levels were not consistent- sometimes the guys' voices sounded too soft, sometimes  perfect, sometimes, booming.

It was enough for me to notice, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the film.  Still, it's an issue that definitely needs addressing.  I heard a couple of people make a comment or two, but no one seemed too put out.

However, people can't fully enjoy the show, if the sound levels are fluctuating.  It's a distraction, at the least, and for some, it may be a pisser.

While the sound problem didn't bother me, I can understand people being unhappy, especially, if their sound problem was greater than the one's in Memphis.

The audience seemed to enjoy the show a lot.  Plenty of laughter and applause at the end.

I definitely enjoyed it.   As an Mst  fan from 1989 onward, I really enjoyed seeing myself on screen, in the audience.  Oh, I also liked seeing those three guys on stage, making jokes. 8)

If they whip this EQ problem,  things will be great!

I had huge problems with the Thursday showing with roughly a third of the riffs being inaudible. Tonight I headed off to a different theater (and different chain as well) and encountered minimal sound problems at most. A few lines got garbled out in the last part of the film when the film's overall volume climbed, but this was a handful of riffs rather than the minutes of the guys being drowned out by the movie.

It's got to be a theater by theater thing.

Yeah, it was fluctuating a bit, could make 90% of it out. Thought it was just my bad hearing.

At my theater we had no sound at all on Thursday.  We got a "full refund" which in theaterspeak apparently means a free pass to another movie.

Tuesday I called ahead of time to ask if they had fixed the problem.  Oh yes, it's fixed.   Went for the replay that night... no sound.

So two trips to the theater and I still missed the entire thing.

Damn, that sucks! Sorry to hear that. I don't know why theaters would have so many different and varied problems with this , given how many Rifftrax Fathom events they've done and livestreamed Fathom events in general are so realatively common.

I wonder if the problem is that most fathom events are concerts?  So some theaters automatically set up their sound systems for that without checking the type of event being broadcast?

I think Rifftrax needs to rethink their audio mixing, do it for the worst case setup since there's no way Fathom could get every theater to set things up properly.  Mix the guys in with all channels, and use some kind of auto-ducking hardware.

I think that many of the prior live events sound was fine because of the older sound sources. Plan 9 was either stereo or mono recorded, so the guys are easily heard as well as the film, for example. Godzilla (and Sharknado) have much better sound audio tracks than Reefer Madness or SCCTM. So I wonder if the issue lies with the film's audio track needing to be leveled a bit before it's presented?

But there weren't any sound problems in the Sharknado riff.  Granted the action scenes and music in that movie weren't as intense as this Hollywood Emerich nonsense, but still, a modern sound mix.

There were a few moments, very few, where the movie's sound was louder than the riff crew. But it wasn't close to the Godzilla live event experience.

I remember the movie being extremely loud in the Starship Troopers live show. But even then there were only a very few times when I couldn't hear the riffs.

So did everybody like the Godzilla riff? I don't see a thread for it, so there's no rating poll or anything. Was I the only one kinda disappointed in it?

I wasn't remotely disappointed, but I think it would have been difficult for ANY film to follow the Sharknado Live riff, which had me rolling the whole time.

I liked it.  Wasn't my favorite, Birdemic and House on Haunted Hill are my favorites.  But, I had fun, and was happy to have attended.  I am finding that I don't get many modern pop-culture riffs.  I'm removed from modern pop culture.
