We all have our dream Riffs. It's not a big deal. For a lot of fans, that dream involves flying sharks, that's all.

TheUnabeefer

I think some of MY dream riffs are the old crappy disaster films from the old (before the rename) Sci Fi channel... Things like "Firestorm" and "Category 7"

Category 7 alone has the greatest on-screen romance between Randy Quaid and Shannen Doherty.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

Much like the spirit of MST3k, it refuses to die.

Much like THE SPIRIT AND TRUTH, you mean?

The thing about Sharknado (And other silly Sifi movies) is that it doesn't really set out to be bad. It sets out to be the best movie named Sharknado that could be produced on a cable budget.

I don't give Sifi credit for much of anything, but I think they've successfully recreated the environment in which classic B-Movies were made. The whole, "We need to show something before the blockbuster, here's what's left of our money, make something people will show up for." mentality. It very rarely results in a good movie, but I don't think any of them are "Let's see how bad we can make this." Calling the movie "Sharknado" and giving it that premise is the same gimmicky thinking that caused them to make a movie called "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies."

I was just on the Fathom Events site and tickets go on sale to the general public Friday May 2.   ;D

DigiRanma

I tried doing that, but despite it being on the map as a participant, my theater doesn't show up when I go to the Fandango link.  Does that mean it's sold out or are some theaters holding out until it gets closer?

Trekker4747

I think they mean tickets for the actual event itself went on sale, tickets for your individual theater won't go on sale until probably a couple weeks out.

Fandango had tickets available yesterday for both of my local theatres (in Rochester, NY), they still do this morning. Try going through whoever handles online ticketing at your theatre.

Edit: okay, clearly my reading comprehension is low this afternoon, sorry. The screening would still show up if it was sold out, usually the time is crossed out. Sounds like they haven't added the show yet.

My brother asked why I bought these two months in advance and I was all "Shut up or because. Take your pick."

KidFlash

Oh, nice. The Tinseltown near my house doesn't have assigned seating.

Sometimes I buy early, sometimes I don't. Depends on what mood I'm in.

What I would buy early is if Fathom was going to be involved with the Monty Python live show simulcast a few days after Sharknado.

Was looking forward to seeing this at the local theater....then got the email that this was taking place in Minneapolis instead of Nashville...gonna be a 4 hour drive, but I got my tickets this morning to be there in person.

And I should add, thank you, thank you, thank you for sending out the announcement via email (I don't do Facebook), for the Kickstarter pre-sale, and for having a show at a new venue much closer to me.

If this were to be in Nashville again, I would have been there in person, but I'm glad others are getting a chance.

Hey everyone,

I am hoping to propose to my girlfriend at the live Sharknado event on July 10th.  She is a lifelong fan of MST3K and introduced me to the show and RiffTrax after we met (Plan 9 being the first big show we saw together).  I am posting this here because I cannot find a way to contact Michael, Kevin, and Bill or someone who represents them/Rifftrax to see if they would mind quickly giving a shout out to her as a cue for me to propose.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Mike, Kevin and Bill are all pretty active on Twitter.

Just got back from the show.  Absolutely hilarious.  I had never seen Sharknado before and it was everything I dreamed it could be.  The special effects in Sharknado makes Birdemic look like The Matrix.  There was a hearty applause when the show was over (and I wasn't even in Minnesota).  Can't wait for Godzilla and Anaconda.
