I'm guessing this movie was anticipated to be a sure thing hit and bombed?  I'm getting a major motion picture release vibe that rifftrax first started out riffing.   Should be interesting.

It's worth the time to look around the Internet and read the articles on just how the hell this went from 'sure thing' to 'turd burger' in record time. Grantland combined the best of these pieces and added a few bits for the 20th anniversary last April.

This was Disney's big release for summer 1993 (opened Memorial Day weekend), and was stomped.

I still have NO idea how someone who is such a great actor like Bob Hoskins is in this thing.

After I watch this I will watch "The Long Good Friday" or "Mona Lisa" to make Bob Hoskins cool again.

He's said his kids were big Mario fans and pushed for him to be in it.

Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.

I wasn't a big fan of the first background I used, so I swapped it out with something cleaner. Amazingly, it's more accurate to the source material than the movie.

I would have thought it'd be doubly hard to get the rights to this. Since they'd have to not only get the movie studio permission, but Nintedo's as well. I really hope this is an indication of Rifftrax having more pull in the industry.

In any case, I'm super glad that a) we finally got this and b) it's a VOD. I smell some VERY good things coming in the future. We've been getting LOTS of great stuff since McBain and Cool as Ice.

They better offer creationism as an option to dinosaurs evolving into people on the Blu-Ray!

So just what WAS Leguizamo trying to do with his voice in this movie?

I haven't a clue what this film is like except it has something to do with Donkey Kong? But based on the excitement here I guess I'm in for some kind of treat.

Well, losingmydignity, you're about to watch a bunch of other people lose their dignity.

I was surprised they didn't make anything from the fact that when the various characters went back to our world, they just stepped through the wall. But when Luigi and Mario came to the dinosaur world, a lot was made about the chasm in front of the wall on our side. So really, those people should have fallen to their deaths.

Yeah! I can't believe THEY brought it up in a thread where NOBODY WAS TALKING ABOUT IT! They just HAVE to make EVERYTHING about what THEY think!
