Oh man!  I started singing
"Spring time -something- pretty ring time..  aaaa ding a ling time.. spring time.. sweet lovers love... the spring."

or something like that.  When he's on the bike with the whipped cream - right?  I think I butchered those lyrics.  Eek.
My boyfriend thought I lost it.

Will we be having another game on Friday? I wonder if there's another guest riffer.

BathTub

Yes, as I mentioned when it was announced there would be no game last week, there will a new game, and a new competition coming.

Oddly enough, those sort of phrases, along with things like 'gadzooks' and 'zounds', are in theory much more offensive (to God) than 'motherfucker' and such- they're corruptions of things referring Jesus' death (Gadzooks is a corruption of God's hooks, referring to the nails of Christ's cross, and zounds is from 'swounds, which is in turn short for God's wounds, as suffered on the cross.) So basically, if you curse like a 1930's mad professor, you're going to hell.

Whoa!!! You know in SLEEPY HOLLOW, when Icabod first arrives in the twon, part of the song is "Odd bokins! Gad zooks!" Wow.... so they're cursing in an Edwardian way.....

Do you bite your thumb at me, sir? (That's an insult to me if I bear it.)

Hebs

Haha, don't bear it.  I wasn't insulting anyone, I just like the phrase.  Like glove slapping, in grammatical form.

I do not bite my thumb at you, sir, but I do bite my thumb.
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere.
Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

We need to start an ebonics and modern slang thread so we can discuss the origins of our favorite words - hehe...
