I for one can't wait. I've seen the designs and the trailer. I am completely psyched for this film. The more I see the more I like. I was originally hesitant on the designs, but they quickly grew on me. They look alien. I think it is a little better to have them look like that than the big boxy look of the originals.

I have gotten a lot of vibes from what I have seen from the interviews with Michael Bay and the writers that they are trying their damndest to do this movie justice. I think Peter Cullen being the voice of Optimus Prime is another prime(pardon the pun) indicator that Michael Bay does NOT have his head up his ass. I can't honestly say it's going to be a great movie since I nor anybody else has seen it but I think it's going to totally kick ass, regardless.

Woops, sorry guys.  I could not find this topic with the search function.  I really typed it in and it got back nothing.  But I clicked on my nick name and found it after I already posted that other Transformer trailer thread.  So just to be extra annoying I'll post the TV spots here too WEEEEEEEEE :)

Yup the movie is gonna rock. I just got done picking up my jaw and wiping up the drool from the last time I watched them.

Has anyone noticed that the ads so far haven't given the bots a shred of personality? That doesn't bode well for me. If I didn't know any better, I'd assume all the bots were evil character-less killing machines. And you can't depend on moviegoers to know anything about Transfomers - my girlfriend's 16-year-old brother has no idea what Transformers are.

Do you see a lot of personality in movie trailers anyways? No, they are always without exception full of cliches, cheesy catch phrases and action. I for one am tired of everyone trying to find something wrong with the movie when nobody is even trying to be the least bit optimistic about a movie which I have waited the past 21 years for. Good or Mediocre, either way I am excited and I'll be damned if I let anyone on this board ruin this movie experience for me.  >:(

I think I've been substantially less pessimistic about this movie than most Transfans. I'm just saying that I don't think the ads so far are doing a good job representing the movie I hope we're getting. Giant robots blowing shit up is cool, but I'd also like to see some of my beloved Transformers make an appearance, too.

I think they're keeping the voice acting under wraps, and that means keeping the personalities under wraps along with 'em. :^)

Sideswipe

The writers of the movie have said that the personalities are going to be similiar to the G1 personalities.  But we do have some brand new Decepticons though, like Barricade.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

Did I ever mention what I do to people who kick my seat during a movie? I usually get them to stop after I have implanted a cactus in their urethra and their asshole(s)!!!!!

Bob

Reading this thread reminds me of Trevor Fehrman's character in "Clerks 2" who was such a Transformer geek, er, fan.

You all please me, you may continue!

Have they even recorded the voice actors? The CGI must be nearly done for a July 4 release, and names have just started trickling out. If this were a completely animated movie the voice acting would have been recorded before the animatic, so the full animation could be matched to the acting - posing, body language, facial expression. Granted, these bots don't seem to have a lot of range for subtle expression, but it does worry me that it appears that giving them personality is last on the to-do list.

Well, I think there are two possible explanations. First, they are targeting teenagers who didn't grow up during the Transformers heyday. Robots throwing shit around probably plays better to that crowd than talking robots (as previously mentioned by somebody).... or.... The robots just aren't going to talk all that much because studio marketing thinks talking flesh'n'blood actors have wider appeal. I'm cautiously optimistic... but I think it's going to be the latter. Just a hunch.

RobtheBarbarian

Hell, I'm not even a Transformers fan and I'm rooting for you guys. I hope this movie turns out alright, and if I hear it did I'll probably go see it.... but Hollywood does have a way of ruining things you hold dear.
