I posted this in that other thread which is... around somewhere.

They didn't base them on the toys because they would have looked big, dumb and bulky. It would be like a MegaZ0rd from Power Rangers! A man in a suit made out of cardboard boxes!

I don't want a Transformers movie full of Roboxes.

   I figured as much. But I was thinking that the transformation sequences could have been used. At least. Maybe. I dunno.


    Anyone reading the movie prequel? I think it's pretty snazzy.

I thought this was going to be a movie about those big black things on the power pole outside my house.  The get hit by lightning and I can't watch tv for 2 days.  Giant robots sounds way more interesting.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.  But I would venture a bet that I'm/You're right on that one.

I will be watching this one as a huge Transformer fan.  I personally think this is going to be one of those adaptations where the less you know about the origingal subject the better.  The robot designs being the biggest controversy.  I've seen some of the concept art, they seem to look like Bionicles to me, but they have grown on me.  Some people like them alot and some people absolutely hate them.  I am personaly against the flames on Optimus Prime though.  Looks like there should be some intense action though, as anyone knows about Michael Bay, his movies aren't the best, he knows how to do action.  Hopefully the script doesn't suck, wich was written by the guys who are writting the new Star Trek movie.  This is supposed to be a Generation 1 story, but I would come to it looking at it like a totally new continuity.

  True that.

  It won't be what long time TF fans were hoping for ultimately, but it sure won't suck as hard as Crossroads or Wicker Man.
