Yes, The Lord of the Rings movies. This is a film of The Hobbit
So? Peter Jackson changed a lot of things for the movie trilogy that included elements from the Silmarillion, the Hobbit, and so on, so why wouldn't The Hobbit include some elements(and by elements I mean characters, or at least hints about them) from LOTR that subsequently weren't covered?

Sideswipe

Elements that made sense to the story.  How would Tom Bombadil make sense in the Hobbit?

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

mrbasehart

I haven't read The Lord of the Rings, but wasn't Tom Bombadil meant to be an annoying twat?

Hang on, your argument for Tom's inclusion was:

Quote from: Gunflyer on July 13, 2012, 01:59:43 PMWell, I dunno, I guess for the fans?

Those same fans (the only ones who actually potentially give a toss about the chartacter) weren't overly happy with changes in the films. So you have a character familiar only to people who read the books, people, who had quibbles with changes from text to screen and you think shoe-horning that character into this film, because he was missing in the adaptation of the book that he's actually from, will be pleasing to those people? Like I said, you don't really have a strong grasp of what plays well with fans (and this is the second instance I can think of recently where you've made a suggestion for an up coming movie and said  "because the fans would like it".when the opposite is true, having a suggestion for a movie is fine, please stop saying you're suggesting things "fans would like" you don't seem to understand how that sort of individual reacts to things).

So, since that reasoning is flawed, we'll return to the question:

I am sure this must have been asked many times by now... but will Tom Bombadil appear?
...in the Hobbit? Why would he?

I just can't wait for the scenes taken from The Father Christmas Letters!

Personally I'm looking forward to when the movie pauses so we can be given an explanation of how to pronounce the consonants in the various languages of Middle Earth.

Yeah, the long-awaited sequel: "The Appendices" will be great. I hear it features Eowyn and Arwen doing girl-power stuff in slow-motion with helicopter tracking shots, while a choral music piece plays endlessly.  Also, then a bunch of dwarves will show up and make fart noises.
I knew Peter Jackson never should have hired Zack Snyder.

mrbasehart

Didn't Jackson use quite a lot of Appendices in the Lord of the Rings trilogy? At least for background stuff.

Yes, but the stuff I'm talking about is the stuff Tolkien was really interested in, and maybe five other people in the entire world.

YOU'RE ONE OF THE OTHER FIVE! I thought we were all gone. ;)

Yeah, the fans would love it if the Kurgan showed up in this movie!
