What the heck, I'll play along.

Title: Roger Corman's Fantastic Four
Riffing Group: Mystery Spatula Theater 11

In this first episode of the new season, Max and company take on a challenge indeed, the unreleased Fantastic Four directed by Roger Corman. Can Max and the bots keep their sanity for another episode while still coming up with fabulous recipes? Can they endure Dr. Hotman, bad CGI, and overacting gallore? Will Johnny ever be able to hit anything besides a wall? Can anyone understand Doom? Will Petra always be stuck in Pirate Mode? What is that giant blue thing? And what happened to Pikachu?

Title: Dungeons & Dragons

If life is just a game, the Max has lost big time. In this second episode of the new season, Max and the Bots must match wits against the scenery-chewing Jeremy Irons, a Wayans brother, an incomprehensible plot, and light sabers scepters that control dragons (but not dungeons).  With cgi that went out of style years earlier, rip-offs galore (mostly from Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark), and a special guest appearance by Gary Gygax's bedroom, this is the Ridliest movie you'll ever see.

Mystery Spatula Theater 11 episodes are done in the style of MST3k, but with a twist. For more information check out http://www.ilikesheep.com/mst11/

Again, Not to offend, but you are charging for things that you have no right to sell.

It would be different if you were using public domain materials, but these are commercialy available films.

The way NoTheater does it is simple and free.

We listen to the audio from the short on headphones and have a mixer and mics that record our riffing into Audacity..

I already have Audacity, use it for editing EVPs so I'm familiar with that.  But how do you get the audio onto the video that Josh has done (awesome riffing btw)?  I've downloaded a few public domain shorts and want to do the same thing.

I won't do LotR right away, I've riffed it with some friends but that's not the same as recording commentary.  You have to make sure what you say is entertaining to those who listen and pray most of your jokes make sense.

Tarantulas

Well you import the audio from the short into audacity and splice it all together... adjust levels and such so you don't overdrive the audio (on either the riffs, or the audio from the short).

Audacity allows as many tracks as you want to import... so get your short's audio in first, and then import your riff... sync it up and export it as a WAV (or MP3 or whatever).  Then use your video editing software (I use VirtualDub) to import the mux'd riffing track and save it as a new video file.

tada, FanTrax!

Wow, I can't believe I missed this thread.

Give it 1 second or so after the dimension films logo comes on.  I saw when It ends but it needs about a second after that.

Note: This Film is rated R and the riffs range to PG IMO.

Okay, here is my first and probably only fan track (soon to make everyone rejoyce)

It's the alien autopsy scene in the PG-13 movie 'Independence Day'. The riffing is pretty much PG, and like I said it's my FIRST. So don't expect a whole lot. Just tell me if it's alright or not though.

Anyway, it the first riff should line up like this:

Doctor: So if we screw up, it's all on tape.
Me: Although we wish NONE of this was on tape.

There should be only a milisecond delay between those two lines.

Alright now, here's the link.

Because I'm only one cheap guy, it has to be through Yousendit.com. Once the link expires, IM/PM me for it again. And forgive my horribly nasal and monotone voice. It's allergy season...and yeah...

Thanks to Tarantutlas for directing me here. :O

I have a few fan MSTings, but they're not fantrax. They're homebrew MST episodes. Is it still okay to post a link to it here?

depends on what your tolerance for embarressment is ;)

j/k of course, had to riff something

sarcasm_made_Easy

not to rain on anyones parade or be mr devils advocate or anything, but i wonder what the boards think of you guys posting what is essentially competition on their site?

please dont flame me for offering an opposing view point.

Tarantulas

Quoteplease dont flame me for offering an opposing view point.

Sorry, you asked for it by trolling / flame baiting this thread... however I will give you 10 seconds to done some sort of fire retardant clothing. ;)

Its not issue of costing them business since no one is charging (except that one guy, and I called him on it) or has enough of a following that it is drawing people away from the Rifftrax product.

I have yet to see any message on this thread that has disparaged the Rifftrax product or tried to convince any one to not purchase Rifftrax.

It's just fans having fun honoring something we all love.

But feel free to now start a thread about how Rifftrax is costing BBI business because they both sell a product that makes fun of bad movies.  And how Kevin Smith's commentary of "Road House" is a rip-off even though its included on the DVD itself. ;)

NOTE:  Since the internet doesn't seem to translate the fact that I wrote this with a broad smile on my face, please note this for future remembrance.  Its all in good fun... just like fan riffing.

All the fan trax stuff boils down to is listening to like minded people telling jokes. You stand outside the club repeating Dangerfield jokes, but when the man is onstage, all that stops. You pay and listen to the professional. Then you go back telling jokes again.

No different here.

Also if you don't like Dangerfield, feel free to insert your favorite comedian: Seinfeld, Carlin, Williams, Murphy, Cook, et. al.
Just do NOT insert Carrottop. That just demeans us all.
Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.

sarcasm_made_Easy

i like dangerfield.

but to the whole "taking business away" argument.  im gonna rant.  please keep my name in mind.

ITS A SLIPPERY SLOPE I SAY!!!! once they realize that they can make their own AND they dont have to pay mike for his, then this site is doomed! DOOMED I SAY!!! DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!!!!
