Hey gang!

Since everyone here is a fan of the greatest cow town puppet show of all time, I'm sure at least once you've tried hurling some funny back at the screen.  Did you record the audio?  Did you film it?  If so, SHARE IT!

Link your Fantrax (fan MSTing) and share the funny with other likeminded "Riffies"!

To get the ball rolling, I'd like to suggest a few rules...

RULES:

If your Fantrax contains content that would earn it anything greater than a PG rating the theater, please note it as such.

If your Fantrax uses video from a commercially available movie or TV series, you may consider stripping the video and linking to audio only (hey.. its your lawsuit)

Keep comments and reviews civil.  None of us here have the level of skill that our schlock box heroes, so keep comments constructive and supportive.

Now lets have some fun!

- Tarantulas

*NOTE*  Yes I invented the term "Fantrax".  I'm sure Legend and I can work something out on the licensing. ;)

A lighthearted look at everyone's favorite grooming subject, the skin.  Keep scrubbing!

We did this riff about a year ago, and have been working on a couple of other projects since then.  We intend to crank out our next short soon.

Now if we could just get an interview with the Legend folks....

I did this back in February. It's for the third episode on the Firefly DVD set. It is admittedly quite the fan wank and I was smoking back then so you can tell that. I'm also quite breathless all the way through it; it's really bad funny. Have a laugh at my expense! =) It's not quite the MST-style, although I'm strongly influenced by that approach and it shows.

This is one of eight shorts I have riffed and uploaded to YouTube. Had to post it in two parts due to the ten minute limit. If you enjoy this, check out the others at the link above. I try to post new shorts every weekend.

Variety of Cells

I went in with low expectations but came out plesently surprized.  You guys did a great job.  The comments were funny and done with great execution.  I look forward to the next release.

JoshWay

I have a smattering of my own meager fan-MSTings at my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/waytube. Five shorts in all and about to upload a sixth.

Crow T. Robot

Let me get this fully straight.  If it's in print and being sold we can only make fantrax but only if it's public domain it's fair game?

trickfred

Just like RiffTrax itself, you can release an 'accompanying' commentary for a current/non-public domain movie, since that doesn't infringe copyright (as it contains no actual footage or sound samples from the movie).

Public Domain movies are free game for redistributing - you'll find many great movies freely available for download (and legally!) from http://www.archive.org (under 'Moving Images'). If you dig through the site, you'll see many familiar titles as well from the old MST days. :D

(For example, you could see the final episodes of Commander Cody!)

"I'm an opinionated jerk. You can be too; ask me how!"

"I gotta take a crap!"

"One last bump, then it's off to slumbertown!"

And the JFK impression - I laughed out loud several times. You guys are awesome and I look forward to more!

Ahh, thanks for the link! I haven't seen those yet.

Wow, nice work Tarantulas and JoshWay! I too had low expectations, but you guys are just proof that the average MST3K fan has a higher sense humor.

JoshWay

Thanks! I'm posting a couple of new shorts tonight.

Tarantulas - awesome job. Loved it.

Tarantulas

Oh yeah... Myself and JohnyFrag do what we can.  We try to pack in as many jokes as we can and not talk over the film.

We have another one on the burner that should be ready in a week or so.

A couple of posts back someone was asking about commercial stuff, and really its up to the riffer.  I like to use public domain stuff because  its free.  But posting your riffing on some episode of DS9 could have legal reprocussions.  If thats the case, just release audio and let people sync it up ala Rifftrax.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!

I think kind of what I was shooting for here guys is posting links to Fantrax made by the Rifftrax fan community, not just links to other peoples stuff.

So toot your own horn!

If you don't promote yourself, who will?

Ironically I went in with high expectations because everyone said you were awesome and found myself mildly disappointed.

Don't take that as an insult, though, you guys did a really good job. But it's apparent you can do even better.

My favorite line was "Beauty stops here."

I might check out Josh's stuff later. I'm inspired to do my own, but I'd feel wrong not teaming up with my MST3K buddy, and we live in different cities now, so ... if I ever contribute anything of my own it'll be a while.

I have a few fan MSTings, but they're not fantrax. They're homebrew MST episodes. Is it still okay to post a link to it here?
