Mostly what I was wanting to shoot for is for Rifftrax fan created content.  If you are the author of a Fantrax production, then by all means, show off your wares.

I was wanting to avoid the whole "hey, checkout this link I found!" kind of stuff.

Fringe

Well, like I said it's not Fantrax, but it is a fan MSTie production. You can go to my site to find out more info:

So far we've filmed 2 complete episodes, Fantastic Four and Dungeons & Dragons. We have scripts for 2 others just about done, and would like to do more soon.

Please let me know what you think.

Tarantulas

It seems a little risky selling your episodes since I seriously doubt you have the rights to distribute the films that you are riffing.

ZachsMind

I have a commentary I made for the Firefly episode "Bushwhacked" over at bigdamncommentaries.com. I called it ZachsWhacked and while it isn't necessarily MST-ical in nature, I'm obviously influenced by them.

Also I'm currently working on a more MST-inspired commentary for a favorite movie of mine that's been screaming to be riffed by somebody since October of 1994... that I hope to make available on the Internet somewhere soon.
My wishlist: Leonard Part 6, Gigli, Shanghai Surprise, Mannequin, Supercross, Spice World, Pluto Nash, Angel Heart, Ghost Dad, Flashdance, Home Alone, Lifeforce, Maximum Overdrive, Phantasm, Poltergeist 3, Pretty Woman, Robocop, Sixth Sense

Movies I don't want Riff'd
any Tom Cruise movies. Yuck

I distinctly remember getting escorted out of the theater about 30 minutes into a showing of the horrific Travolta/Slater/Long mess Broken Arrow, along with my best friend, for doing some fairly tight riffing. This was back in the MST3K days, so when they threw us out, there were quite a few boos because the first two rows seemed to be enjoying out dialogue much more than the movie's :)

I'll have to check these out. Given more free time, I might gather a group and give a whirl, but right now I barely have time to enjoy the pro RiffTrax. Either way, keep it up fans!

Remember, if you want your personal FanTrax to be more visable, just format your entry like mine in the first post...

I will then put it in the main message...

better exposure for your project...

I did this back in February. It's for the third episode on the Firefly DVD set. It is admittedly quite the fan wank and I was smoking back then so you can tell that. I'm also quite breathless all the way through it; it's really bad funny. Have a laugh at my expense! =) It's not quite the MST-style, although I'm strongly influenced by that approach and it shows. I should also point out it's got profanity in it. It's not intended for anyone who believes in censorship.

This one's a work in progress. It WILL be very rifftrax influenced, but my own comedic style is decidedly not like Nelson's. Can't say it's better or worse, just different. It's also going to be R rated. People who believe in censorship need not listen.

I've already plugged mine but here's a detailed description of one of my favorites:

This is one of eight shorts I have riffed and uploaded to YouTube. Had to post it in two parts due to the ten minute limit. If you enjoy this, check out the others at the link above. I try to post new shorts every weekend.

I apololgize if I'm hijacking the thread, but how do you inbed your commentary over the video?  I've seen the ones on YouTube and they are hilarious and have inspired me to do a few shorts (along with the momentous undertaking of doing the extended version of Lord of The Rings commentary track).  Obiviously you record the audio, but do you just then use Windows Movie Maker or something to then paste it in?  Thanks.

JoshWay

Speaking only for myself, I use a Sony program called Vegas. It's not cheap, and I'm sure someone can name a cheaper app that allows multitrack audio mixing (GoldWave?). I wear a headset mic and record my commentary while I listen to the short in the headphones. This gives me two separate audio tracks on the timeline in Vegas: one containing the original soundtrack and one containing my commentary. I edit out all my mumbles and chair squeaks, re-record any lines if necessary, then I render the whole thing in whatever format I need.

Good luck with that LOTR commentary. Hope you survive!

Tarantulas

The way NoTheater does it is simple and free.

We listen to the audio from the short on headphones and have a mixer and mics that record our riffing into Audacity.

We then use Audacity to sync our audio to the shorts audio.

I would suggest NOT doing such a long commentary right off the bat.  You will burn yourself out.  Start small, and build up.  Or just take a scene from LOTR.
