This movie kicked SO much ass! It deserves every penny it gets. And I don't even like Joss Whedon.

Just got back from 3D.... That was nearly perfect.

Great actors, great plot/special effects/script.... I greatly approve.

Caught this on Saturday night (with a friend who's seen it 6 times already). It's not often that a film that makes a freakish amount of money earned it all, but yeah... this is one of them. First act was a bit shaky, but outstanding characterization, humor, and one of the most enjoyable, money-shot-filled climaxes I've ever seen more than makes up for it. Pretty much as good as a superhero movie can get (and that's meant in a good way), and the sort of blockbuster that really should be setting a standard.

Also, best stinger ever.

It will be interesting to see if The Dark Knight Rises can meet or beat The Avengers box office numbers.

Tough to say, since it hasn't been nearly as aggressive as The Avengers has been in terms of marketing. Sure, it's still a few months out, but it's not trying to pull a Dark Knight viral campaign here.

Of course, it'll still be a hit. It'll quite likely meet expectations. And then we'll have a year where the best of the absolute best superhero movies are delivered to us on large silver platters. Good times for all and such 8)

As someone who would be happy to see nothing but superhero movies and raunchy comedies for the rest of her life, I say we are truly living in the golden age of cinematic greatness.

Guys, remind me to drop in on the beer thread and talk about how much I don't like beer. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'll forget.

That's two new-ish members who've done that... strange

So this has nothing to do with the movie itself, but rather my experience while seeing the movie.

I went to a 2 PM showing on Friday.  I paid cash at the window and also presented my Regal Crown Club card and it turned out I got a free popcorn.  Woo.  I don't usually go to the overpriced concession stand (I usually wear my smuggling pants and buy elsewhere), but it was free.

Anyway, I buy my ticket, and the lady in the little ticket selling bunker asks if I want to donate a dollar to some charity.  I'm feeling generous, so I say "sure", and the dollar is added to my ticket price and I get my ticket.

Then I take my ticket to the ticket taker.  She asks me if I want to donate to a completely different charity.  I say "no, I donated at the counter" and move on.

Then I get my popcorn.  The lady at the concession stand asks if I want to donate to a THIRD charity.

When did movie theaters become the United Way?  Yeesh.

They did that the last few times I went.  I can't say that I mind because all I have to do is say no if I don't want to give and every time they get a yes it is helping someone.  It' not a fast food place bugging me to up size my order, they are helping someone so it doesn't really bug me at all.
