I saw it at a 2 PM matinee.  Theater was mostly full but not packed.  I arrived about 5 minutes before the trailers started and got a good seat.  There were some guys talking loudly during the movie, but it didn't really bother me too much.  I guess I'm used to it.

It was a good movie.  Not a great movie.  The 3D seemed underutilized.  Black Widow seemed to be mainly useless compared to all the superhumans.

Actually I was surprised by how much they gave the Black Widow to do. I didn't feel as though she was useless at all, and this is coming from someone who thinks every chick is useless until proven otherwise. She was proven otherwise.

Well I guess you're mostly right.  It's just in the big battle royale at the end, she seemed so outclassed.  Captain America has his indestructible shield and superhuman abilities, Thor has his hammer, Iron Man has his super suit, Hulk is just an enormous green monster, and even Hawkeye has his arrows.  They're fighting this invading army of robot-like thingies with energy guns and bony space whales.  Then Black Widow pulls out..... a pistol.

Gotta admit it was pretty badass when she hijacked that one alien's flying jet ski thingie and flew it up and closed the portal.  At least she earned her keep.

Can't wait for the Rifftrax.

the parts that sticks out to me is the part with loki and the old man and iron mans missile run was cool to.

APGIL has always commented on her tiny pistol and points it out every time they do that circular shot of all of the Avengers. It is pretty laughable, but she's also good at being able to get her way out of tight situations, both by virtue of her knowledge of martial arts and, more importantly, her ability to outsmart people. I went into it fully expecting the Black Widow to be completely useless and was pleasantly surprised by how much she actually did. Given that this was a Joss Whedon joint, the man who brought us Buffy and Firefly (or Serenity or whatever it's called), I guess that shouldn't be a surprise. He's good at writing smart, kick ass chicks and has had plenty of experience in doing just that.

Speaking of useless, though....

Nothing in-particular. It was just picked on a whim.

Also WOW that's a big ant!

I think that flies past forced perspective all the way to waterboarded perspective.

Because of his Moe haircut, is Hulk their leader?

Puny knucklehead.

I agree. I was very impressed that they assuaged my biggest concern, which was Black Widow and Hawkeye. They were good. Not my favorite parts of the movie, but still impressive.

WOOHOO!!!!  Awesome.

Cap is the man.  LOVE him taking charge at the end.   THAT was what i was looking for; cap being a leader.  It affected me.

The hulk was great too.  LOL @ him slamming Thor and Loki.

I'm telling you it's good.

I liked Cap taking charge too, telling the only negativity is from someone who refuses to see it

Scout. Like he was with pointing out things to Iron Man, he's supposed to have insane vision which they sort or eluded to with the "I see better from far away" line

Pak-Man

Loved it. Start to finish. The team dynamic and individual interactions therein felt very real and organic. None of the characters were changed drastically to shoehorn them into a team. Here were 6 different characters from 4 different movie franchises who banded together to form a team.

My theater was PACKED too, and when a theater in my tiny city is packed, it usually means a new box office record is about to be set.

I was shocked at how packed my theater was for the marathon.  I did a Saw marathon when Saw 6 came out and it started out with only one other person, with a few more filtering in throughout the day.  I was expecting more than that, but was not expecting it to be packed from the get go.  That theater looked like a bomb went off when it was over.

My theater was also packed for the marathon.  Was fun though, first time i've been able to get rifftrax to work in a theater setting (Though I've only tried twice).

Well, the movie just came out yesterday.  Give the backlash some time to build.  People seemed to like Revenge of the Sith and the 2009 Star Trek at first too, before it was decided they would be required to hate it.
