Directors still use FILM!? What's up with that? :^)

Yes.  Because film quality is still vastly superior to video.  And it doesn't take so long to set up on a shot to shot basis.

It's all about Digital nowadays.

That's why almost everything is still shot on film, right?  Video will become more popular, but it just doesn't have the information and latitude that film does right now.  Anyway, carry on.

sarcasm_made_Easy

i disagree, based on the fact i have all the best movies on video going all the way back to the days of harold loyd.  HA take that VOC

Bah!  Foiled again!  Damn you Sarcasm!  I'll get you one of these days!!

The Iranians are pissed. But then again, they get pissed at anything. They can say that we are using psychological torment on them, but cannot applaud the fact that we have made a trilogy of sweet video games featuring their ancestral prince.

Just a quick intrusion into your thread here (since i still haven't seen the film yet):

I've noticed that a lot of theaters like to show the most popular films in their IMAX theater, whether or not the film was formatted for an IMAX release. This would explain some of that grain that a few of you have mentioned. You simply can't take a film meant for a regular theater and show it on an IMAX screen without sacrificing quality.

Now, i'm sure that there were a few IMAX prints struck for release, but i've seen movies like Team America shown in an IMAX theater. If the manager thinks that they can sell the tickets and fill the theater, then they'll show anything in those theaters... unless it's otherwise verboten due to contracts or whatnot (such as with the Star Wars prequels).

Just FYI~

Good call. Movies shot specifically for IMAX require special hardware of the space-age sort, so a film not properly produced specifically for IMAX theaters may turn up dust/grain.

New theory though - Waddles D. Penguin, despite his impending "takeover" as prime minister of the USA, actually hails from the Fertile Crescent region. I think his anguish at how the Persians were portrayed in the movie caused him to sabotage each and every film reel of the movie. Apparently, penguin urine and saliva causes for some interesting chemical reactions when combined with film.

Wow.  This is such an earth-shaking development.  By show of hands, who didn't see THIS coming? ::)
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

that the irans could get MORE pissed about stuff that is irrelvant?  I have to say im shocked that the level exists.

Interesting article -- I find it totally ridiculous -- but interesting....

They act like Hollywood /only/ portrays /them/ badly.... I mean, look at how poorly so many other belief systems are portrayed. Seriously, they needa over it =P

Besides, the context of the movie ain't dat way, no?

Yeah, if they made a movie about our American forefathers slaughtering native Americans and taking their land, we wouldn't give it another thought. Heck, we make 'em ourselves. :^)

actually we would give them millions of dollars to see it.  and do every time they do so.  The last samurai anyone?

What i find funny is they think that hollywood likes them less than our own government somehow or the two are collusion lol

Good call. Here in America, we can portray ourselves as Native American-slaughtering white-supremists and /still/ nominate the movie for Best Picture at the Oscars!
