I'll book my ticket in the afternoon when I'm at the HOT FUZZ preview screening.

I bet when Imrahil goes to the movies with guys, he sits one seat apart according to the "we're not gay" seating pattern.

For what it's worth, I think I get where Imrahil's coming from.

When you spend a certain portion of your life studying something with fervent passion, it becomes annoying to see the masses lump it into the "Pointless Details" category and proceed without the knowledge.

For instance, I got a degree in English. I know the difference between Accept and Except, They're, there, and their, its and it's. And now we have the internet: an entire society that looked at all the rules and guidelines and said, "So what? We can communicate anyway!" I can look at the internet and say, "You know that's improper grammar. Why are you doing this!?" and the internet can say, "OMG! Y do we N33d to do like dat!? U NO what I meen!" and something inside me dies. I imagine Imrahil's rage is coming from that same general direction. :^)

OH. MY. GOSH.
BEST MOVIE EXPERIENCE IN TEN YEARS

No, I'm not exaggerating. This movie rocked. It rocked hard, and bloodily, until the very bowels of every soul in the theater craved for raw pork meat and black licorice ...

Of all the movies I've ever seen hyped up to this titanic level, I believe this movie is the only one that has lived up to the craze (and then some) at this universal level (at least from the standpoint of everyone in /our/ two theaters).

Reasons why this movie rocked:

1.) The direction was fantastic. As a film student, I appreciate the mixing of complementery techniques to produce an entirely unique feel. And this movie followed, as well as broke, the rules of cinematography in a completely successful way.

2.) The coreography was astounding... And by coreography, I mean the action as well as the camera-movement. For anyone that feels like Braveheart and the Matrix have forever set the standards on stylized film-fighting and warfare, run to the theaters immediately and prepare for a Spartan beat-down of a biblical scale.

3.) The adaptation from the graphic novel is simply marvelous. Panel for panel? No. But does the movie echo the novel? Absolutely -- and many scenes /are/ panel-for-panel, which pleased the daylights outta me.

4.) The film in no way pretended to be a historically accurate movie. Unlike other epics like Kingdom of Heaven, or The Last Samurai, where the authenticity to history is falsely verified by their film producers, this movie boasts theme and message far over historical accuracy, which is how most movies of this nature should be approached.

5.) The music was a strange hybrid of metal, classical, and opera -- all of which, when molded together to elephants slipping on corpses, works fabulously and flawlessly to continue the story.

6.) Lena Headey was captivating as Queen Gorgo; simply amazing. I'm glad they gave her much more material in the movie than in the novel. And she's dang gorgeous to boot.

7.) Butler -- what can I say? Perfect choice for Leonidas. Perfect. His eyes even resemble that intensity that the novel portrays. I was held aback that he captured the character so well. Bravo!

So basically, go see it. Now. haha... It makes beggars feel like kings =)

Exactly my point, J-Proof, exactly my point.  Get shut of the stupidity and just grab your balls and ROAR with this flick.  It's a masculine masterpiece.  (However, there is much that women would like as well, like when Queen Gorgo says, in response to why the King is asking her advice, "Because Spartan women give birth to Spartan warriors!"  Oh yeah!)

And PAK-MAN your point is not really valid.  Here's why.  Anytime someone says they "KNOW" something it means they do NOT know.  Imrahil is telling us he KNOWS something about history.  I am saying I don't KNOW, but it seems to me that the drawings from people of the time period SEEM to indicate they fight naked.  I do not KNOW, but maybe they did.  I too have studied and there is only one thing I know for sure about history, or even the reality around us, and that is we know NOTHING for sure.  "He who says he KNOWS does not know; he who says he DOES NOT KNOW, knows... "  Joseph Campbell (quoted from another guy)

"There is only one Truth in the Universe, and that is, there is NO Truth".  Chew on that Zen Koan, ladies.  I'm off to see 300 again...

Yeah, see - if I was hard-nosed about never seeing movies that defile my own personal interests/beliefs, then I'd pretty much only watch Muppets movies all day long ;)

As a Roman Catholic, I still find pleasure in watching and reading things like DaVinci Code, or Kingdom of Heaven, cuz they have entertainment value regardless of whether or not they pretend to be historically accurate =P

Indiana Jones movies, and movies like National Treasure are just fun sometimes, and you have to just go into theaters knowing that this is Hollywood, baby!

My old physics professor absolutely /loves/ the Back to the Future trilogy, regardless of the "flux capacitor" nonsense, and the (arguably) mispronounced hollering of the word "gigawatts" lol.

In fact, some of the most historically accurate movies have been the worst in terms of fan support. Even fans of Shaara's novels didn't like Gods and Generals on the big screen. (Thank God for Clint Eastwood, tho)

for love of all holy dont sully the board with relitvism, its nonesense.  if your statement is true then you can MAKE THE DAMNED STATEMENT!!!!!.  sorry philosophy is my thing.

facetious logic, that would imply getting educated by highschool drop outs, even in things like physics, would make more sense that by people with PHDs.

I get what your saying but the words you use dont convey it well enough for it to make sence as it stands.  sorry man im not meaning to pick on you.

God i hope you guys are right are right about the masculinity of the movie.  its been a while since ive seen anything truly masculine as i would call it.

did they stop using that obnoxious uber rapid cut type of action, to blur the fact that none of them can use weapons?

Hey man, you ain't pickin on me, I didn't make this stuff up.  You want to tell me how stupid my religion is, too?  One of the great things about relativism, is that you don't have to argue about anything.  Everything is true.  And everything is a lie.  (That's from the Order of the Golden Dawn, Aliester Crowley, Israel Re gardie, etc.)

So, I am sure you are right about everything.  As is, probably, Immoral.  However, 300 is a good movie, in my opinion.  You will probably hate it, whatever.

I question the truth of that...:-)
But what I DON'T question the truth of is, The 300 Rocks and Roars!
