My problem is how are Juggernaut's powers mutant? He got them from the Jewel of
Cybil Shepard's rack, didn't he?

I learned that it is possible to make Storm's hair look even worse than in the first two movies. Solution? Put a Tribble on her head!

Your inner hair stylist is trying to get out.   ;)

You are correct, but this movie wasn't following canon. They decided they needed Juggernaut, but didn't want to add magic to the movie, which kind of makes sense. Why complicate something that doesn't need it? Especially if you aren't going to make him Xavier's brother, or use any other part of his story/personality from the comics.

True. Which is why I hated Juggernaught in this movie. He didn't look anything like the comic character! And Vinnie Jones, you're a big guy, but you're not the Juggernought, bitch. Brock Lesner, now THERE is the Juggernaught!

Id except that as long as juggernaught is inexplicably mute for the whole time he is on screen.  Or dubbed.

Did they plan to bring Apocalypse into the picture after last stand?

I'm not really sure how Apocalypse could be pulled off properly without causing people to laugh their asses off
at some guy with a big A on his beltbuckle. It's fine for the cartoon, but for a movie, especially after the masterpiece
that was First class.... gotta portray villains in a more dignified light.

Dignified? After Magneto's red head bucket?

I supposed you would have to nix all the cosmic power origin stuff and just make him a powerful cult leader type who is trying to destroy both humans and mutants behind the scenes.  Maybe they could tie him in with the U-Men, a recent addition to the X-Men villains who are essentially humans who hunt down mutants for their body parts and then graft them onto themselves.  Those guys are creepy.  And their outfits are essentially a cross between hazmat suits and surgical gear.

I don't understand why you can't have aliens in a movie that already has mutants.  is an alien really an sillier then a guy who can some how control anything metal?

Presentation is what's truly important. The brood would look silly, Apocalypse would look silly on the
big screen with their best known comic designs. It's all about presentation I think.

Darth Geek

It's also all about escalation, too. I think now that we have established mutants in the series of movies, you can add things like aliens and such. However, if you had tried to include aliens in the first one along with establishing mutants, that would have been too much.

I still don't see why he couldn't have been included.  They changed the design of other characters, they could have do the same for him.

They were trying to limit the original movie to one degree of implausibility. It's the same reason why Rogue and Jean can't fly in the movies. They were trying to be realistic, in so far as a movie about people with super powers can be realistic. Magic or Aliens would have added extra layers of implausibility. Remember, most of the people watching this have not read the comic or seen the cartoon.

Heck, I've never read a comic book in my life (except Watchmen). The only reason why I know Juggernaut had magic powers or that the Phoenix saga involved aliens was the X-Men cartoon.

From my times watching X-Men 3, I learned:

- Your movie can "Star" the same people from the first movie, provided you give them about 10 minutes of screentime.
- Ellen Page breathes through her mouth a lot.
- The war against the bad guys will only take about 4 adults and a girl who's still in high school.
- I had the same feeling watching Kirk die in Generations as I did Scott in this movie -- stunning indifference.
- If your consciousness is transferred to another person, you will have the same voice.
- Beast was .... actually pretty awesome. Score one for the movie.
- Most movies that start with a battle simulation or dream aren't all that good.
- Romantic triangles don't work when the main girl has become unlikable, the main boy acts oblivious, and the other girl gives no indication she's all that interested.
- Storm's main weapon is striking a pose and floating into the air.
- Memes are rarely all that funny, and they become a lot less funny on the big screen
