I'll argue that it demands you to have a fucking blast. Unsurprisingly, it does prevail in its objective.

Really?   :D

Like I said, I'm a woman.

So, what does gender have to do w/ finding things entertaining and fun? Likewise, this male was never attracted to the "masturbatory fodder" of the franchise.

Lighten up.

In regards to the accepted gender roles that were enforced in my generation it has everything to do with it.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Spoilers. No really, you might want to skip clicking on this as it might spoil Captain America.

a pretty girl is like

The Marvel movies should stop borrowing from the Ultimates line because it's pretty much crap.

*edit* Early Ultimate Spider-Man being the exception.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

I think that Ultimate Spider-Man has been quality all the way through (even during Ultimatum, shockingly enough).  The rest of the line varies greatly in quality to great to abhorrent.  Lately, it's been pretty weak, even Millar's Avengers (which has it's moments, but it feels like he's phoning it in.  Some great art though).  But I agree that trying to use Ultimate Dr. Doom in the FF movies was a fantastically bad idea (seriously, that pun wasn't intended when I wrote that sentence).  If they redo it, I want him as the ultimate Renaissance man who can do science, magic and strategy with equal aplomb.

I feel confident in saying that there won't be alien Nazis in the Cap movie.  Nazis are enough.  What I do want to see are the Sleepers!

Doctor Who?

I saw this yesterday and not only do i think it is marvel's best movie so far I think it is up there with Superman the movie as the most enjoyable superhero movie I have ever seen.  i enjoyed every second of it and hope there is a Thor 2.

Dim of the Yard

Saw this movie yesterday and loved it. It was great. Loved the performances all around. Oddly enough, I quite enjoyed Loki the most in the movie, but he's the character I'm the most ambivalent about upon further reflection. I would watch this again, most definitely.

Doctor Who?

I can't wait for this to come to Blu Ray.  I mean it I really want to see it again.  If I had the money I would be going back up to dover to see it again today.

Bob

That's a pretty high endorsement.

Doctor Who?

The last time I had this much fun watching a movie was The Incredibles.  it was fun,had good characters, the best plot I have ever seen in a superhero movie, and the humor made me laugh every time.  "I swear I am not doing this on purpose!"  :D

Oh and Portman proved just how badly Lucas screwed up. She is good in this and completely relaxed.  if Lucas had been able to get this kind of acting out of her in Star Wars those movies would have been a lot more enjoyable.

It is very heartening to see Natalie Portman turning in a very organic, capable performance in this movie. It's also very nice to see her making wise script decisions unlike previous Oscar winners of the past few decades.

Finally got to see this one today. It was a real fun time. I wouldn't put it up there with Iron Man, but it's the most fun I've had in a movie theater all year long. Hernsworth did a good job of portraying Thor's boisterous personality and eventual humility, Loki was a bad guy you could sympathize with. The action scenes were awesome, the funny scenes were funny. Totally worth the price of the tickets. :^)

Yeah there is nothing I hate more then seeing good actors slumming it and acting all stiff like we saw with Portman in Star Wars.  I tell you the truth because of those movies I have forgotten what a great actress she was,it was shock seeing her not only be good in something but so relaxed.  That is another thing this movie has going for it the inter cast seems to be relaxed and enjoying themselves.  It reminds me of watching a Tv show where the cast is getting along and they have been working together for a while. They all seem to be enjoying themselves and they know how to act together.  In this type of movie it is true,if the cast his having a good time it will come through on screen and the movie will be fun too.

This movie must have had as much green screen work as the Star Wars movies so I can't understand why no one in the Star Wars movies was able to acting this well.  i mean those movies have a good cast too,but they all came across as stiff as a board.  I really think if the Star Wars movies had had this kind of relaxed acting and sense of fun despite the plot holes they would have been enjoyable.

Loki as portrayed by Tom Hiddleston is a fully 3 dimensional being. I think it is refreshing that Loki is a villain who's not your standard "I'M GOING TO RULE THE UNIVERSE!!!" type villain who's evil just for the sake of being evil. He really honestly believes what he's doing is all for the good of Asgard.

But I think the most endearing quality about Loki is the fact that he has the intelligence to understand there's just something different about him that he couldn't quite put a finger on, like he feels he's just being tolerated because Odin commands it.

This is just so true! Natalie Portman is such a genuinely talented, organic actress. No matter what sort of character she's playing, under the right direction and guidance, you can believe that that fictional being could actually represent a living, breathing person. As much as I like the original trilogy, Lucas is better at the creative side of the coin, not directing, but ego dictates that he must have full control over everything, right down to the direction instead of trusting a more capable directing talent. I view the prequels and those over bloated "enhanced" versions of the original trilogy as more of a vanity project for Lucas. It's evident he cares more about the exterior qualities of the film as opposed to the interior qualities of a capable actor or actress' performance. Asgard was just as eye poppingly beautiful as any world Lucas created on his green screen, but yet the performances by the principle actors were not upstaged by the visuals. The visuals only complimented the performances. I think a lot of the credit for that should go to Kenneth Branaugh for bringing out the best in his talent. He could have just sat back and let Natalie, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, et. al. fend for themselves, making the excuse that Thor was just a mindless, blockbuster popcorn project, but thankfully he didn't.
