FLOCK of RABID SHEEP?!?!

Just saw it earlier and at first thought it was lame but through the movie got more into it...there were also very few people watching it with me. I might watch it again.

I thought it was a total blast. It felt like a movie for me-- a reward for putting up with a medium that generally has very little respect for my interests. It's also the first movie in a long time that seemed NEW. I know that's ironic, considering it's based on a graphic novel, but just the film making style is inspiring, like maybe there are still some new and exciting things that can be brought to the medium after all.

True, it does feel original. Especially the editing. Which as much as I liked it, it seems like something like bullet time, that could become THE thing to rip off shamelessly. I'd hate to see what a bad director would do trying to immitate it.

Finally got to see this. Amazing fun and I think they did an excellent job adapting the source material, but I felt the Chaos Theatre ending of the film really lacked the emotional complexity of the one from the book. Still, I really liked it.

Saw it again last night.  I had a buddy that didn't want to see it, but I talked him into it, and he really liked.

I considered going for a third time, but apparently only one theater is still showing it around here, and only for two showings a day, neither of which is convenient for my work schedule. Maybe I can at the beginning of next week assuming I have a night of then.

I'm a fan of the comics and saw it opening night.  I wasn't crazy about some of the changes they made to Ramona's character, but all in all I really enjoyed the movie.  Edgar Wright has yet to fail me.

A little late to post, but Deviantart is running a contest to "Create The 8th Evil Ex".

Thought you guys might enjoy seeing my entry.

Aaaaaaannnnndddd... it's a flop:
http://www.deadline.com/2010/08/first-box-office-the-expendables-13m34m-eat-pray-love-8m23m-scott-pilgrim-5m12m/

Came in fourth after Expendables, EPL, and last week's The Other Guys.

An exhilarating ride, it was. Surely, I would've done some things differently...inclusion of robots, any semblance of a backstory for Envy/Kim, and the battle at Honest Ed's for starters...but to no surprise, did Edgar capture the kinetic spirit of the comic or what?

Let's go back to the contest. I give you the real 8th ex.

Spoiler

It's nicely on model as well. All 6 pages of this strip available here: http://concentrationmoon.deviantart.com/#/d2xt514

BTW: I'll give props to the entries who actually seem to be, you know, familiar with the book/movie and not just drawing random characters. I'm looking at you, "Ramona's 8th ex is a time traveling family of S&M loving Nazis from the future" entry. (Shakes head.)

Nicely done. There are a lot of REALLY good entries in this contest; I kind of wish I'd had time to toss off a second one.

The good thing about this movie doing terrible in theaters? The DVD/Blu Ray will be released November 9th! You can read the details on the facebook page. I haven't read it yet, but I did spot a "trivia track". Wonder if that is like the ones on Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
