BTW, since I think there's people here who have read all the books I need to ask another question.....

Bella lived in Arizona.  Any friends back there that maybe she kept in touch with after she moved to Forks?  Any friends that she just cut off - or cut her off after she left?  Did she maybe date someone back there? Was the person she dated normal in any way?

Also, did they ever explain why even though Carlisle's kids are all foster kids, they go by the name of Cullen when foster kids don't change their names every time they're placed with a family - and no one finds this just one more strange thing about them all?

You should stop putting so much thought into this.  After all, it's clear that the author didn't think about it at all.

Oh, very very likely.  I'm just wondering if Bella had anyone she knew back in Arizona maybe pointing out to her what a self-destructive jerk she's being about Edward - since she seems to think the kids in Forks are bigger fools than they actually are - and she's ignoring them too?

I'm just wondering if I noticed this huge gap in reality in the books, why hasn't anyone else? Or - if they did - they identify with a girl who in 17 years hasn't made one friend back home?

Suddenly everything about Twilight makes sense now. We need to get the word out.

BTW.....how long do you think before the announcement these will be in 3-D?

If I may paraphrase a show we all know and love:  "Just repeat to yourself, 'It's just sparkly vampire saga, I should really just relax...'"

I think I'm getting to hate that now as much as "Do. Or do not. There is no try."

Didn't they already announce that? I seem to recall a number of stories 2 or 3 weeks back about how Kristen Stewart was excited at the prospects of a 3d movie.

I'm more interested in her busty friend in 3D.

My theory-- and it's probably spot on-- is that the studio KNOWS this is a fad that could die at any time. Worse still, not only die, but will likely receive a SERIOUS backlash.

Therefore, they're trying to get these movies out as quick as possible, before the bubble pops and no teenage girl would be caught dead seeing one of these movies.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

Oh, absolutely.  Don't think they filmed the Harry Potter movies faster - and there they had to worry about their leads going through puberty.

Very true. It's also why they are making the fourth one in two parts, as they are trying to milk it for all they can as quickly as they can before the fad dries up.

Doctor Who?

I don't think this is a fad that is going to die out.

Remember when everyone thought Pokemon was a fad?  Here we are 11 years latter and Pokemon is still pretty popular.

I think these books will always appeal to teenage girls and by the time the girls who are reading them now grow out of them they will have daughters of their own who they will have read the books to since they were kids.

If you are counting on this thing dieing,i think you have your money on the wrong horse.

Thom_Serveaux

So 3-D was big in the 50's, then given the recent resurgence, it'll be popular again by say, 2060?

The fact that there are adult women who are fans of this makes me worry.  That it could end up being something passed down from mother to daughter....

But 99.5% of teenage obsessions (music groups, teen idols, games, clothing styles) that one generation covets becomes something that only babies and geeks are into for the next one....

I'm hoping that Twilight will be in that group.

It is? I run in a pretty pop-culture-obsessed circle, and I only know two or three hardcore Pokemon fans, and even they only watch/play the older stuff.

I'm not sure if it's popular with grown ups but my godson and his brother love the little beasities and still collect the cards and they're like 5 and 6.
