RVR II

I learned that selling your souls to a ghost army brings Victory.. :o

But you shouldn't release them from their duties till the ALL the battles are won ::)

RobtheBarbarian

I learned that orcs invented the Higgins Boat.

Darth Geek

I learned that fat people with no other friends will help you, no matter what you do or say to them.

stansimpson

I learned bringing a hobbit to a Nazgul fight accomplishes nothing.

ShadowDog

I learned that there WAS a giant spider in this movie despite what my psycho friend from back in the day was bitching about for a year.
"Did she just say Chipping?"

CJones

I learned that Sauron can look directly at a pair of Hobbits within his own borders, knowing full well that's what he's looking for, and either somehow not see them (even with a magical spotlight), or decide it's not important enough to investigate. Heck, he doesn't even leave anyone behind to guard the one entrance to his one vulnerability.

Also...

The enemy now thinks Pippin has the ring. Let's rush him to the place we know Sauron was going to be sending all his troops to anyway. Maybe I'm missing something, and it's been a while since I read the book, but I don't understand the logic behind this.

I think Gandalf does explain it, but maybe I just gleamed the reason in my own mind...if they'd stayed where they were, Theoden and what was left of his people would have been wiped out by the Orcs sent to get Pippin. Gondor was better fortified, and therefore 'safer'.

jindar

I learned that a charging horse can plough through an orc spear wall without the slightest injury.

I learned that the Witch King deflates like a balloon when he dies.

I have to admit, that does make a fair amount of sense. They defintely don't make that clear in the movie, but they may in the book. Like I said, it's been years since I read it.

1.  Frodo was sort of a douche at the Cracks of Doom.  (Bilbo Baggins is still, in fact, "the bravest little hobbit of them all.")

2.  Just hanging with the Heir of Isildur protects you from the undead, no matter how hard you disrespect them.

3.  When you delete any mention of the palantir that was permanently housed at Minas Tirith corrupting Denethor, he comes across like a whiny, fey  little bitch.

4.  As evidenced by Merry and Pippin jumping around, the beds at Minas Tirith havd steel box springs.  Impressive!

5.  Unlike the book, there was no wedding ceremony between Arwen and Aragorn, who apparently just shacked up for the next century or so.

Russell

That even after the movie was over, I still wanted more closure than even the last 20 minutes could provide.

This was my number one complaint about the movies: the way Denethor was portrayed. I fully expected them to put the palantir in the extended edition, and was pretty cheesed off that they didn't. He was a jerk in the book, but he was nowhere near as pathetic or incompetant as he's portrayed in the movie.

Thrifty

That when you know of a prophecy that says no man can kill you, you really need to consider the redefinition of gender roles on the battlefield.

Tony Farms AKA Puma Man

I learned that Sauron and his armies repeatedly get their asses kicked through three movies like he's the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl.
