I don't mind when he's there to help sync the audio...it makes sense having a bizarre voice, because if it wasn't, it would be harder to notice.  But I can't stand extended sequences with him, though the ones in "The Room" were pretty well inspired.  Disembaudio doesn't really show up that much anymore, though.
Perhaps we can agree to disagree here. I think the "Disembaudio and friends" was a lame attempt to get Mike in the mix in a puritanical fashion.

I would much rather have heard riffing on Tommy's ass dimples than Team Disembaudio's blather.

What's wrong with straight-up riffing a sex scene?

I like that they don't riff a sex scene.  The fact that they can be funny without resorting to shock humor and dirty jokes says something about all three of them.  Not that I have anything against shock and dirty jokes.
I like artificial grape flavor, but I hate real grapes.  A paradox!?

They're not above doing dirty jokes though.  When Neo was fixing Trinity at the end of Matrix 2 they got pretty filthy (and it wasn't even a sex scene) and it was hilarious.  So they're not above it.

They aren't "above it", certainly. But I'm glad they realize there is a difference in riffing something that isn't dirty and making it dirty, that riffing dirty jokes over a sex scene. It'd kinda be like the one joke in Batman and Robin where (I think it was Bill) said "It's Commissioner Gordon." when it actually was Commissioner Gordon.

Again, I think we can agree to disagree, I don't think it would be  "shock humor" to "poke a tittle fun" at some revolting sex scenes.

Come on people, lighten up.

Besides...I haven't actually looked up "Lemon Party".....but from the reactions I've read here from those who have, the guys are perfectly alright with dirty jokes...as long as they don't have to tell them directly.

Doctor Who?

I have to say for me the more Disembaudio the better,if I could buy a track that was all him and his friends and family riffing on a movie I would.

Not telling them directly is what makes it funny, to me.

This is my way of seeing it.  I have been watching either MST3K or rifftrax since I was 10 (I'm 26 now).  That's 16 years.  It would be so bizarre to me to hear Mike, Kevin, or Bill riff on someone's sexual procedures (I wrote that in the least sexy way possible), because of the image I have of them that was formed over the last two decades.  Does that make sense?

No, not really.

Not really because they proved that there were things to joke about without getting into the actual sex act that was (supposedly) going on in front of them - Wiseau's resemblance to Weird Al in UHF for instance.  How about the water running down the window - a lousy imitation of rain, I guess?  Lisa's hair changing from one shot to the next.

I think it was done with Dis and friends making as much constant chatter as possible because of someone's discomfort with things like that and because they wanted to make sure that the moaning on the movie's soundtrack was covered up completely.

Riffing a sex scene does not fit within the image that I have formed of them.  How does that not make sense?

I see what you mean about there being things within the scene to riff (I think Disembaudio made a joke about Wiseau looking like Wierd Al in the Rambo scene, too),  But really, when they show nearly the exact same scene four times in the movie, there's only so much to make jokes about.

I don't know, with a little guts and creativity, I think they could have pulled it off. I actually think it would have been cool if Mike suddenly had to leave the booth to get a soda or hit the head, leaving Kevin and Bill to riff the scenes, with Mike coming back at the end of the scenes saying  "So, what did I miss?"

You're making the assumption that Bill and Kevin wanted to riff that scene and are themselves okay with riffing sex scenes. Their Mike-less riffs don't really show any more of a tendency to head down that path than the Mike riffs do.

And back on the subject of dirty jokes.....I just watched The Matrix again.....forgot about those Paris Hilton and George Michael jokes...

They aren't above it.

warofthebees

I think that sex riffs (that sounds...suggestive...) would turn out to be like riffing action scenes, which can be really boring (not all the time).   Since sex scenes are, by nature, repetitive (with the exception of Watchmen's bizarre thirty positions in two minutes sex scene...I could see riffing that, actually), I think too many of them would end up like  the "Amway bit" from Avatar.

There's also the "dome Blowing" scene from Battlefield Earth.  "Above it" may have been a poor choice of words, but I do think dirty jokes are easier to make then clean ones.
