Very rubbery.  That doesn't look like metal armor at all.

I imagine it'll look better in motion. Imagine a troll or something hitting Thor's arm with a battleaxe - a nice SHINK sound effect, maybe a spark, and it's sold.

Yeah, it does look a bit rubbery. Which could be dealt with in lighting. Which is why I'm a bit worried as that is an official promotional picture, which should have the proper lighting to make it look good.

Looks okay to me.  I'm equally as interested in what Asgard is going to look like.

Side note: Chris Hemsworth's brother stars alongside Miley Cyrus in The Last Song and gives a very Paul Walker junior performance.  Here's hoping his brother has a bit more gravitas.

Doctor Who?

Well he had plenty for the short time he played Kirk's father so I think he will do fine.

Joe Estevez.

Eric Roberts.

Frank Stallone.

Acting ability doesn't run in families, so I think you have little to worry about.  And before anyone says it, Stallone CAN act at times, just not very often.

I think that the armor looks good, though.  I can see how one would think it looks rubbery, but I'd rather that then something distracting like Clash of The Titan's god armor.
I like artificial grape flavor, but I hate real grapes.  A paradox!?

Yeah, he was pretty impressive in Star Trek. And Robert Downey Jr had nice things to say about his presence, which is pretty high praise.

You forgot Don Swayze, although he's actually a pretty decent actor, so nevermind.

I would argue that Eric Roberts is at least as good an actor as his sister. Not that that's really saying much...

I only liked him in The Dark Knight.  At any rate, he isn't as successful as his sister, that's for sure

First look at Chris Hemsworth as Thor! (serious this time)

Spoiler

Nice! Looks like they've recreated the armored costume from the recent comics. Looks a bit rubbery, though. Glad they gave him a beard - makes him look a bit more regal. More please, Marvel.  ;D

Wow...sexy.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

If only he had the legs for thigh-high hooker boots, he coulda been a star, too. So, when are they gonna remake Pretty Woman with Emma Roberts?

I heard about that one. The biggest problem with Asylum films nowadays seems to be that they are boring, despite their goofy premis and plotline. I'm looking at you, Sherlock Holmes. I would hope this movie would at least be lively enough to be enjoyable.

Just got back from the midnight showing. A few notes:

*This won't mean much to most folks here but the name Thor brings to mind Steven Thorpe, a mst3k fan from back in the old usenet days of RATMM. He passed away from a heart attack in February 2001. You're still in my thoughts, Thor.

*On a less depressing note, the first thing that I saw after the previews was the Universal logo, which was confusing as I didn't recall Universal having anything to do with the Marvel films. A few moments later when Vin Diesel appeared, I quickly realized that I was watching Fast 5. Whoops. I am confused as to why the theater was showing an 11:55 showing of Fast 5, but hey, not my theater.

*I never expected to see Thor in a sweater vest. But yet I did.

*More seriously, Asgard is gorgeous. Seriously,  if Thor doesn't get a cinematography nod at Oscar time, something is seriously wrong with the academy.

*Hemsworth was fine. No real complaints on his performance. Portman acted more in the first five minutes than in  hours of Star Wars films. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) was great.Just superb. I have no idea where they found this guy, but that casting agent deserves a bonus. I didn't recognize Odin until the end credits and I especially didn't recognize his mom. Wow. She hasn't aged well. And why is Jamie Alexander not playing Wonder Woman? She'd pull it off.

* The film was highly enjoyable. While I was skeptical about a Thor flick, Branaugh pulled it off and pulled it off well.

*During the end credits, it was noted that Thor qualified for the french tax credit. Um, what? The only location listed was in New Mexico, which I don't think is French at this time.

*Lucy Liu's name also appears in the credits. I'm guessing this is a different Lucy Liu.

Overall? Seriously, I was damned impressed by this one.
