I'd like Cap to look a lot like this during WWII:

The brown cap reminds me of the fake hero Mark Hamill wanted Bruce Campbell to play in Comic Book: The Movie.

Yeah, it does. It looks like it might actually protect Cap's head, though, unlike those old school leather football helmets. (That movie kinda sucked. It was nice to see so many voice actors gets onscreen roles, though.)

I think the movie will have a brief WWII scene, followed by him being unfrozen.  I say this because I'm assuming that the Avengers movie will want to avoid having to have too many scenes explaining backgrounds.

I understand that reasoning, but I hope you're wrong. I want at least two acts in the 1940s. I've heard "all WWII except for modern day bookends," but I dunno how true that is. I'd like to see Act I: the classic Cap origin, Act II: basically The Ultimates #1, Act III: Holy crap, look what we just found in the ice!

Darth Geek

I thought most of the Captain America movie was him in WWII and getting frozen at the end.

Looks like it's (almost) official. Chris Evans is playing Captain America.

My thoughts? I genuinely like him, but have reservations. Hey, it could be much worse.

Hey, warofthebees, could you maybe change the title of this thread to Captain America before someone starts another one unnecessarily?

I think he'll make a good Captain America.  It could have been Channing Tatum, don't forget.

And I'd love to change the thread title, but I don't know how.

Just edit your original post. And never mention Channing Tatum again.  :speechless:

Not sure who I would dislike more:  John Krasinski or... um... he who shall not be named.

Well, if Tatum could act he would've been a fine choice. However...

I would prefer John Krasinski over...The Other, but I really couldn't see him as a superhero.  I remember, before Pierce Brosnan was picked as James Bond, Mel Gibson was briefly considered.  It would be that wierd to me.

Edit:  Article confirming Chris Evans: http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/movie-talk-chris-evans-wins-captain-america.html   I don't really mind him, but I'm worried he can't pull off the insecure, pre-Captain America Steve Rogers.  He's perfect for the "Holy crap, I used to be skinny and weak and now I'm a superhero!" scenes, though.

Geez, really, Marvel? I know they're rebooting the Fantastic Four and soon they will be represented by a whole new group of actors, but really? I like Chris Evans. I thought Push was really cool. But Captain America, Marvel's version of Superman? Huge, powerful dude who could crush your (red) skull with his fist? Unless the guy bulks up Stallone HGH stylee and is upstaged by his own neck muscles, I just can't see believing it. Captain Average Movie Soldier, sure. But Captain Motherlovin' America? I don't know. Seems like another bad Marvel casting choice, like Thomas Jane, Ben Affleck, Nicholas Cage, Ed Norton, and fucking Travolta. None of them right for their parts.

I swear to God, if he says, "WOO-HOO!" even once, I'm going to hire Russell Crowe to punch him in the face.

Thrifty

I look forward to this.  Captain America is really the only super hero I ever really got into.

Don't forget Michael Keaton as Batman.  TOTALLY not buff AT ALL!   ;)
