Fuzzy Necromancer

Avatar, the movie.

The Downside: mix "the last samurai" with "Ferngully the last Rainforest" and put it IN SPACE, only hammer the cliches and preachyness a bit harder
The Upside: The movie has glowy awesome things and a knife fight WITH A MECH.

Conclusion?
See Avatar in IMAX 3D or not at all.

I hope IMAX 3D is better than 3D in the normal theaters. I was ready to trade in my tickets for a non-3D ticket a quarter of the way through. I really don't think the technology is worthy of the ticket prices... or the hype.

From the same guy who gave us the epic 70 minute review of Phantom Menace is a shorter two part Avatar review (most likely shorter because he only had trailer footage and so forth to use, but still hilarious.)

Funny stuff.  Another one talking about "white guilt", I didn't think of that while watching it, I thought it was mostly a industrial/military greed against the environment thing.    More about how corporations will stomp on anyone or any thing to get what they want and not so much European colonization (since humans can't really live on the planet without life support).

Yea, no Oscar nomination for writing.   Best score? It had totally forgettable music in it.  No actor nominations either, hard to say if that's wrong or right, Weaver and Saldana probably should have gotten some recognition...

Relaxing Dragon

The No Screenplay thing is very good, since when all is said and done that was the worst part of the movie. I was sorta pushing for Stephen Lang getting something, since in years to come, when the effects stop dazzling so much, he'll be the only part of the movie that's really worth watching.

I'm am really happy the credits song didn't get nominated. Annoying Oscar bait schlock through and through, definitely didn't deserve anything.

I thought the acting was good... only problem was that the dialogue was so terrible it was hard to ignore. I found myself groaning at some of the dialogue. if Cameron had a better script/dialogue I'm sure the actors would have won awards. Just another reason he shouldn't get any awards as a director.

Eh, personally I enjoyed it more than a lot of movies that have won best picture so whatever

Am I the only one that can't stand to listen to this guy's voice for ANY amount of time? It's just so annoying and boring that I don't even get to any of the (supposedly) funny parts.

I can see how you would hate his voice. The first time I listened to it, it definitely bothered me but I stuck with it because I was watching his Episode I review and I found it to be a funny as well as devastating critique of the movie. Once I was into the review, the voice ceased to be an issue for me.

I didn't find the Avatar review to be that funny. There are some funny bits, but overall, nothing special. My theory is that he's only really funny when he's reviewing something for which he has genuine hatred, e.g. Episode I and a few of the Star Trek movies. I think the persona he has created best lends itself to just hating everything about a movie and ripping it a new ass. There was too much he liked about Avatar to translate into his A-material.

But, if you can't stand it, you can't stand it. Just curious though, did you manage to watch the whole Episode I review?

No, I lasted about three minutes of the Episode 1 review. Sorry, but I watch Spoony's reviews and Vlogs, which are much more entertaining and listenable, and he is hilarious!

RoninFox

The voice is just a character, I oersonally found it funny right away, but to each their own I guess.  At least we can agree that Spoony is hilarious.

YES! Especially his characters, like Dr. Insano and Spoony Warrior.
