What would you most like to see in a movie?

I think Tarantino's been quoted as saying he doesn't want original music in his movies, as he doesn't want someone else to have that much influence over his movie.

Yeah I could be down with that, except if they did that, how would I learn about shows on TLC that I'll never watch?

What would I do without Bradford Howe's terryfing looming face or songs that I don't recognize from movies I never saw?
I like artificial grape flavor, but I hate real grapes.  A paradox!?

District 9 remade into a comedy, starring Simon Pegg.

Pegg, Frost and Wright's next "Cornetto" movie should be a Daniel Craig 007 spoof with Simon as James Blond and Nick Frost as his love interest, just like in the other ones. Timothy Dalton is the villain, with Bill Nighy as M and cameos by Bill Bailey as Q and Jessica Stephenson as Moneypenny.

I would also like to see a remake of The Greatest American Hero, either as a TV series or - less likey - a movie franchise. Nathan Fillion has repeatedly expressed interest, so I'm not completely alone here.

I actually would kinda like to see the next Cornetto movie as a fantasy/Lord of the Rings type spoof. Simon and Nick as Frodo/Sam-esque characters, with Nighy as a Gandalf-y wizard and Jessica as an Arwen or Eowyn type. Bailey as Gimli, Julia Deakin as Galadriel, and Mark Heap as...well, anyone, just so long as they finally work out a role for him.

I heard about that. I like FIllon, but he is nowhere near nerdy enough for this. I suggest:

I'd love to see that. It sounds like an episode from the mythical third series of Spaced.

Sounds like too much of a direct parody for them. What I like about Shaun/Hot Fuzz is that while there are many, many references/homages to other films in them, they are still pretty much legitimate entries in their genre. Just with a bigger focus on comedy. They don't just rip on one source for a plot, but rather have their own. Which, to me, explains why Blazing Saddles is far superior to Spaceballs (though I still like Spaceballs).

And I know that goes against what I said in my original post, but I just mean the 3rd of those shouldn't be like that. Though otherwise yea, that would be pretty great.

Oh, it definitely wouldn't fit in with the trilogy's established style of "comedy set in genre with lampshade hanging" instead of "over-the-top parody of genre". I just think it would be awesome.

Maybe they should make a tv/internet show of just that.

In the mid nineties, the dark days, there was talk of making The Greatest American Hero into a film with Adam Sandler playing the lead.  Did you feel a shiver of fear for what might have been?

I see where you're coming from. I hadn't really thought about it, but Shaun and Hot Fuzz are pretty much just straight zombie and cop movies with Simon and Nick shoehorned hilariously into them.

Still, Julia Deakin as Galadriel has such possibilites...

"Hullo, Frodo. Fancy a tipple o' grappa?"

Tarantino would break out in hives if anything original touched one of his films.

Yeah

Quotehe doesn't want someone else to have that much influence over his movie.

aside from all the directors of the movies in his DVD collection.

That's the funniest thing I've ever heard him say. What a funny little video store clerk.  :D
