Interesting thoughts about multiple viewings, but again, how do we quantify this? You can't. Some people love the Disembaudio skits and can watch it over and over again. Other people, like you, hate it. Who's right? Both? Neither? I know this is the Internet and all, and 90% of the Internet is bitching, but it seems like whenever I bring up this concept of subjectivity in comedy, it's quickly ignored by everyone who is doing the complaining.

This is exactly what I feel.  Personally I dislike the Disembaudio stuff.  But I disliked the movie enough where basically it wouldn't matter how funny the guys were: I can't sit through it again.  (I've seen it 3 times.  And plan on selling the DVD &/or giving it - and 'my single-user rights' to the RiffTrax - to my brother [who likes 'incompetent filmmaking'] to enjoy.)

Comedy, like everything else, is 100% subjective.  We cannot perceive things any other way but subjectively because our life histories are all so different.  And to expect others to conform to what we want is simply unrealistic.  [I am saying that in the context of this discussion... not about any specific person or people.]

There are, at this point, out of the 93 RiffTrax (including the K &/or B RTPresents), only one I'll never buy (because of the film), and only ten that I won't be likely to watch again (and out of that ten, all ten are because I can't sit through the movie again, whether it is getting riffed hilariously or not*).  That is a full 90% 'hit rate' of films I can watch riffed over, and over, and over (but of course, without the riffing, 90% of those would be unwatchable  :D ).  For me to get pissed about the small percentage that I don't care for would be an absurd waste of my energy.  [And of the remainder, I made a list of the riffed films and put 'x's by the title when I watch it so I can remind myself which I may not have seen as often... there are only three of those 82 riffed films I like, that at this point I haven't yet seen at least 4 times.  That's a MIGHTY good return on my investment, even including the 'loss' from the ten I won't watch again!  ;D ]

To express my opinion about what I like and dislike is one thing; to get in other people's faces [like happens so much on the internet] accusing them of making things I don't like deliberately or taking advantage of me for doing what they expressly state they are trying to do - and which I chose to participate in of my own free will - would be, well, narcissistic at the least.

To be blunt: you guys supply a product.  It is up to us to decide if it is a product we'd like to own or try.  And just like trying new foods, not everything appeals to everyone. <shrug>  I figure, "Oh, well, it was worth the sampling just to have a new experience," whether RiffTrax or food.   ...the company that makes the Chicken Tikka Masala I tried recently used curry that was hotter than I prefer.  But I don't expect them to 'fix' it because of me.  But since it was otherwise good, I'll continue to try that brand until I either am able to generalize that all their food is too spicy for me, or until I find out which products they make that I do like.  Or I may decide that I won't try their brand again because of the one thing I didn't like.  But it isn't their fault I didn't like it.  And by them continuing to produce it and other foods they aren't 'taunting' me or trying to take advantage of me.

The differences between people and their likes/dislikes is why there's more than one of us in existence.   :)

* For those interested, the films I will never watch again are: Star Wars Holiday Special, Troll 2, The Wicker Man, Memento, Little Shop of Horrors, and - surprise - The Room.  The ones I most likely won't watch again (because others are so much better) are: Cocktail, The Grudge, Over the Top, and Glitter.  The one I won't buy is Saw.  And I know some of those are expressed favorites of various people: more power to them.  They just aren't 'me'.

"...and Lisa is in the computer business."

Lisa's Mother: "Who are these characters?"
Riff: "She's speaking for the audience."

I love the supposed "way to get down off the roof stairs opening" that was right smack on the corner of a building and it looks like they walk to the left :)

How funny that Lisa thought Johnny wouldn't EVER notice that a baby never did come out after awhile...since it would happen "someday" and if he asked she would just tell him not to worry about it..

About Dis- if he has a lot of dialogue it's hard to understand him so I kinda tune him out.

I completely lost it near the end when Johnny trashes his apartment.

Thats the hardest I've laughed in a long time, guys. Thanks.  :)
Warning: Above post likely written in a fit of insanity.

Doctor Who?

I loved that part too.

Am I the only one who's first thought when watching that scene was that Wiseau was trying to do his own version of the famous scene from Citizen Kane?

You despise me, don't you? Yes. Yes, we all do Tommy.

Doctor Who?

I'm just saying they both got dumped and then they start running around the room and smashing stuff while the camera is at a low angle, you know he must have seen Citizen Kane or at least that scene it is so famous. Wiseau  seems like the type of guy who would do his own version of a famous scene and think that he was being brilliant.

At least he didn't try to pattern the whole movie around Citizen Kane like Overdrawn at the Memory Bank did with Casablanca. What am I saying? OatMB is Casablanca compared to The Room.

Hrmph. You're just saying that because of your rampant dislike of anteaters.

Well, they are clumsy and repulsive.
