Can we at least agree that Dilbert would be the hero there?

Tripe

See I'm not sure he'd have done anything thirty five minutes ago.

It was an average to very good superhero movie.  :(

Things I liked:

Billy Crudup's voice
Cranky Carla Gugino
The Comedian as rascally rogue and murdering rapist.
Dan Dreiberg: schmoe, mensch, all around nice guy.
Lots of fear and lots paranoia from lots of people.
Although running counter to the point of the book, the fight scenes were well done and exciting to watch.
Does a good job of streamlining and at least made an effort to make it accessible to a wider audience.

Things I did not like:
Rorschach as badass and not as the joke he was intended to be (I'm right there with Alan Moore on this one, I can understand why he regrets the impact Rorschach had on comic history.  I didn't particularly care for him in the book and I didn't like him in the movie either).
Malin Ackerman out-acted by Billy Crudup's voice and Carla Gugino's old age make-up.
I can forgive leaving out the vagina-squid-alien and I'll grant that your new plot kinda made sense in the context of your movie but for really real your big bang was just another Armageddon-style explosion devoid of actual human carnage?  Seriously, the movie is stacked with manufactured money shot after money shot lifted straight from the book and the one honest to goodness money shot in the book (five whole splash pages, in fact) gets completely scrubbed clean and carried no real emotional impact for me.
A fey Ozzy.

In conclusion: It was an average to very good superhero movie.  :)
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

Doctor Who?

So what rating would you all give the Watchmen movie.

I give it 6.5 out of 10.

The stupid music,Silk Spectre, and the fact that there were no corpses in New York really let the movie down for me.

I hope these things will be improved with the director's cut Blue Ray.

Zak Snyder's adaptation of Dave Gibbons's art: 7.5 out of 10.
Zak Snyder's adaptation of Alan Moore's words (even when lifted verbatim): 3.5 out of 10

Yeah, I noticed the dialog thing, too. Even though I haven't read the book in quite a while, I noticed that some of the dialog seemed to have been lifted straight from the book, and felt clunky in the context of a movie.

Doctor Who?

one more thing I would like to point out is in the book New York gets destroyed it really hit me because of all the time I had spent with the people on the street,in the movie they cut them out and then they didn't even show the bodies so I didn't care at all.

I really hope someone who knows how to make a movie gives this another try ten years or so from now.

Doctor Who?

It wasn't so much how she was played as how she was written.

In the book she does what she does because she is damaged and bitter,in the movie she seemed pretty happy and well ballanced from the get go and non of her actions made any sense given that.

She really didn't have much to do besides be a love intrest,in the book she was an interesting character on her own.

Doctor Who?

Doctor Who?

Yeah but she was also the only person to stand up to Doctor M.

The point is she never wanted to be a hero but was forced to at a very young age and it took her a long time to work through that but when she did it was the key to getting Doctor M to come back.

She was a lot more interesting then movie woman in comic books or comic book movies.

Doctor Who?

That was the point, even a seemingly pointless Human life can be important.

If "seemingly pointless" human life is important, he would have killed Viedt on the spot. It was the "miracle of love" that convinced Manhattan to come back, and I've always thought that was romantic novel level drivel.

gojikranz

i have to agree t ocomplaints about the impact of the ending they really should havae rcreated those blood drenched streets just removed the squid or something casue those were definately some very powerful moments when reading.  and hopefully when they do hte ful directors cut we will get t oknow the people on the street like in the book though i doubt they can ever get that much in.
