When I was a wee teen, I watched most of the Full Moon videos. Why... I have no freaking idea. Literally, I do not know why I did it. Nobody told me to. But they had ads in Fango. I believe those pages had subliminal stuff and LSD in them.

Favorite is too subjective to give anyone a free pass, so I'll just say I try to watch all the Stephen King miniseries and TV movies.

I've seen all of Woody Allen's movies (except Don't Drink the Water) up to Small Time Crooks, and then also Melinda and Melinda. They just don't show the new ones on channels I have, and I'm too lazy to get the DVDs.

Random performers, The Marx Bros, John Cusack and Jackie Chan.

Christopher Guest.
John Carpenter.
Mel Brooks.

I used to love the Puppet Master and Trancer movies when I was younger.  Those were great cheesy fun.

Also Christopher Guest = Super Genius/Super Jerk
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

Joel and Ethan Coen
David Mamet

These two are also at the top of my list.  Hell, I even watch The Unit.  Which is a network show that Mamet helped create, but only once in a while will he actually write & direct an episode, but the series is worth trudging through just to see those.  See the episode "Silver Star" from season 2 to know what I mean.

I've never been a fan of a certain studio, every studio puts out some good stuff and some bad stuff.

Greg put it best by saying my favorites number in the triple digits....with that being said....

Director's that I consider bulletproof...in other words have never made a movie I didn't enjoy:
Joel and Ethan Coen
David Mamet
Richard Linklater
Charlie Kaufman
Danny Boyle
David Fincher
Quentin Tarantino
Christopher Nolan

Other favorites of mine that have less than perfect track records:
M Night Shyamalan (not counting The Happening...liked all his other movies a lot though)
Robert Zemeckis
PT Anderson
Ridley Scott
David O Russell
Terry Gilliam
Steven Soderbergh
James Mangold
Rob Reiner
Martin Scorsese
Kevin Smith
Cameron Crowe
Robert Altman

Oh yeah, forgot about Clooney, he's got a great eye.  Although he's only made 3 movies....and I really have no interest in Leatherheads.

Aronofsky is also awesome.

yeah but "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind", and "Good Night, and Good Luck" were excellent in my opinion and I also enjoyed "Leatherheads"

Man, I forgot Danny too.  It's staggering the way that guy just effortlessly leaps from genre to genre

Yeah if anyone else were re-making Robocop I'd be skeptical but being that he is directing it... I'm pretty anxious to see what he does with it

Yeah, his first two movies were home runs for sure....which is why Leatherheads seemed like such a strange choice to me for Clooney to direct, it looked terrible.  maybe I'm being too prejudgemental, I'll add it to my Netflix queue and check it out.

It seems like an odd choice for him...but I'm definitely interested to see his take on it.

He's incredible.  And not only does he genre-leap better than anyone, but he does it without sacrificing any of his artistic integrity.

The only studio that comes to mind is Studio Ghibli. I'd like to say that everything they've done is good, but I've unfortunately seen "Pom Poko". Such a shame that their record will be forever stained by expanding scrotums.

While that's a little disconcerting, I still think it's a marvellous movie.  I've seen most of Ghibli's films, and I think the weakest is Porco Rosso, and that's only because I had really high expectations.

I also found Pom Poko to just be boring as hell. It just never went anywhere.
