Dim of the Yard

Looks like I'll definitely need to now!  Thanks guys!

By the way, Isaac, you're right.  Zucker brothers produced, but didn't direct.  I heard about Brain Donors through an interview they gave ABOUT Brain Donors, and that gave me the impression that they directed the piece, as well.  My bad.  Thanks for the correction.

I disagree.
I'm curious did you find it funny because you don't like Michael Moore or do you think he actually hates America?

Oh no, I don't think for one second that Michael Moore hates America. In fact, I think it's completely absurd to even suggest that. Granted, I'm not the biggest fan of Michael Moore, so that helped with why I liked the scene, but it's more just my sense of humor. Having a character who is obviously a political activist go so far off the deep end to prove his point is what's funny to me. And something about puppets just makes me giggle.

You know what's funny, though? All the Moore bashing in Team America was because Stone and Parker claimed that the way Moore edited Bowling for Columbine, with their interview preceding a cartoon, supposedly "made people think that we did the cartoon". WHAT?!? ???

I think they kind of had a point there.  That cartoon looked a lot like Trey's American History animated short.

Yeah, I actually did think that Trey did the cartoon after watching that movie.  It seemed natural to go from his interview directly to a cartoon done in a simplistic style.

Nice to see my take that "Trey and Matt are just petty and bitter now" confirmed.

Of all the claims made against Moore, this one is really the weakest. It's not like he turned to the camera and said "and now here's a cartoon from the creators of South Park!"

Basically, Moore's movies made more money than anything Stone and Parker ever did, so they attacked him for that reason. They were jealous of Fritz the Cat and Ralph Bakshi -- by the time Team America had bombed at the box office and the majority of the reviews were negative, they said that Fritz was important, and entertaining as a party movie, but not that great of a film, when it's actually a better satire and more meaningful film than Team America; essentially Fritz is like the cinematic equivalent of Frank Zappa's We're Only In It For the Money ("Flower Power sucks!") and Team America: World Police is the cinematic equivalent of Limp Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water.

Somehow I doubt Trey Parker and Matt Stone desire to be "respected" by anyone...

Petey Wheatstraw

No, actually, they want to make money. Team America made $50 million worldwide; Fritz the Cat grossed more than $100 million.

BBQ Platypus

Actually, the majority of the reviews for Team America WEREN'T negative.

And perhaps they were just expressing their actual opinion about the movie Fritz the Cat.  Ever thought of that?

hahahaha, post edit!

ahem, to put BBQ Platypus's post in context it seems that while on the promo tour for Team America (which according to Isaac was reviewed mostly negatively) Matt and Trey said they didn't think Fritz the Cat was good.

Personally I'm stunned anyone asked them a question about Fritz the Cat, where they asked their opinions on the Fabulous Freak Brothers too?

I'd be more inclined to believe that if Team America barely made back its money in the United States (32 million, the budget was 30 million), which is extremely bad if you're trying to make a puppet movie for a big studio. The studio knew that it was a risky idea going in, but they thought that these guys could pull it off. I haven't seen either of them trying to make a movie with Paramount since.

Freak Brothers didn't have a movie, much less an important work of film satire, as Fritz was.

Actually, there is a Freak Brothers movie being made. It's called Grass Roots. A British film company is doing it in clay animation.

BBQ Platypus

Actually, the lack of movies coming from Stone and Parker is mostly due to the fact that, by their own admission, Team America was really a difficult movie to make, and they didn't really care to make another one.  Although the fact that their movies don't make money meant that the studios weren't exactly clamoring for another one.

So you deleted parts of your origional post after someone replied to it and then commented on my comment to re-state how good you think Fritz the Cat is?
