QuoteRitchie will rewrite and polish Johnsons...

That about sums it up there.

I thought this was the most appropriate quote from that blurb:

QuoteWarners is said to be high...

Meh, Lock Stock and Snatch are both VERY fun movies.

Two of my favorites.

I also like the short film he did for BMW Films.   Even Madonna was okay in it.

Sounds like they're having another crack at a "Young Sherlock Holmes" idea (Holmes as Indy).

Which I'd be in favor of. I love that movie.

That's the one with the dancing cakes, right? I remember liking it.

Tripe

It probably sparked an interest in Egyptology in me, or kindled it at least.

Young Sherlock also has an out of print, impossible-to-find, and wonderful soundtrack by Bruce Broughton.
All of the good soundtrack albums are out of print and impossible-to-find (or too freaking expensive).

Perhaps a certain British poster could provide an address to the seller and then ship it to you?

Yeah, I got no problem with doing that.

Though I may add:

He's had 12 people look at it (I imagine 3 of those looks are us) in the past few days.  He might be amenable to international shipping now.  :)

Um, I don't really know what to say about this:

Borat creator Baron Cohen to play Holmes

On film it has always been about the urbane, gentlemanly Basil Rathbone; on TV it was the beaky, occasionally irascible Jeremy Brett. But the next incarnation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's sleuth is to be rather a different proposition: Sacha Baron Cohen, it was reported in Variety yesterday, is to take the role of Sherlock Holmes in a forthcoming film.

Baron Cohen, whose Borat was one of the cinematic hits of 2006, also appeared earlier this year alongside Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in Tim Burton's blood-soaked version of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. He played the oleaginous, charlatan Italian barber Signor Adolfo Pirelli, whom Sweeney Todd challenges to a shaving competition.

Baron Cohen's film version of Sherlock Holmes is to be a comedy, with Will Ferrell as his Watson. Guy Ritchie, of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels fame, is to direct. The film is as yet untitled, and is expected to be released in 2010.

Aside from Borat, the Kazakh reporter, another of Baron Cohen's characters from the Da Ali G Show is being turned into a film. His Austrian fashionista creation, Brüno, will be the centre of a film to be released next year. In the film, Brüno takes his fashion show to the US.

Borat - its full title is Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan - saw Baron Cohen's character travel round the US encountering real Americans.

At least the news about 'Metropolis' was awesome.

I know what to say about it............. one of our articles is wrong, I to be honest, I hope it's yours

QuoteColumbia Pictures has set an untitled comedy that will star Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) as master detective Sherlock Holmes and Will Ferrell as Watson, his crime-solving partner. Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) is writing the script, and Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller will produce.

The comedy is inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes tales. Though the thrust is different, the Baron Cohen-Ferrell pairing is the second major studio project featuring the detectives, as Warner Bros is prepping the Anthony Peckham-scripted drama "Sherlock Holmes" with director Guy Ritchie.

The Columbia project re-teams Baron Cohen and Ferrell, who played rival racecar drivers in the 2006 hit comedy "Talladega Nights," which Apatow and Miller also produced.

"Just the idea of Sacha and Will as Sherlock Holmes and Watson makes us laugh," said Colombia co-prexy Matt Tolmach. "Sacha and Will are two of the funniest and most talented guys on the planet, and having them take on these two iconic characters is frankly hilarious."

I hope so as well, or we're about to have a lot of angry Holmes fans if this is the 'reimagining' that Ritchie is planning.

Well, if the NY tabloid are to be believed, at least we wont have to suffer the horror of his wifey getting a part.

I like the idea of Baron Cohen being Holmes for some reason, but I get a little jittery when I think about Ferell playing Watson.  I just hope he can rein himself in.

If it's an Apatow joint, I hope there's a good part for superstar Paul Rudd.  A certain Professor M. perhaps.

I'm confused.

I've heard that Madonna has hired McCartney's divorce lawyer....

But then they were just talking about the A-Rod divorce on the radio....saying that the wife is saying he's been screwing around with Madonna in NYC....but Madonna has supposedly issued a statement saying that her marriage is "solid".....
