The riffs were funny as any rifftrax, but there was a lot more dead air than usual, I understand why though but if thats the case for a experiment like this I rather it be a 90% fan made riff trax, and have Mike and the Crew fill in the gaps of silence.  But I mean any negatives as  constructive criticisms, and it won't stop me from buying any future fan made riffs.

Hey everyone ... I have watched MST since 1992 ... I hate to say it but the MST guys blew it on this one .. I figured they would improvise on the MINUTES LONG spaces between fan written jokes in the Batman and Robin movie.  It has GOOD riffs, but it could have been the best ever if they had just improvised some.

I stand by the top two:

(1) Star Wars Holiday Special
(2) Battlefield Earth

And next time you guys let the fans write it ... FILL IN THE EMPTY SPOTS ... for Christs sake you guys are the BEST RIFFERS ON THE PLANET!

Will it fit on the poster if they try to put, "Written entirely by the fans except for the parts where there weren't any riffs and we had to improvise stuff, but you won't be able to tell which is which, so if you think a joke is funny, it might not have been written by the fans, but otherwise it was."?

I think a lot of the dead air in this was mostly due to the time crunch, and the fact that they were working on the Tron riff and the Speed riff at the same time as this riff.  Also, it was done over the holidays which is a bad time for anything.  Overall I think it was excellent work for it being only the second completed riff they have offered.  Hopefully perfection is just around the corner.  Either that or all Trolls DIE, and pixies and hobbits control the known universe spreading the good and beautiful warmth of sweet madness.

Umm ... It could have been "Written WITH the fans!"  or something similar.

As it stands right now, Rifftrax completely botched one of the most riffable movies ever :(

Better luck if / when they redo it (they redid Plan 9 , right?)

This riff was great, what are you talking about? The only missed opportunity was the micromachines running down that dude's arm, which could have maybe had one additional joke. The most important thing was this was full of GOOD riffs, and is definately in the top 10% of rifftrax.

Bettertomorrowamy -- I love that little animation in your sig.  Ponyboy should indeed turn to the darkside!

As far as me saying the Riff was BAD -- I did not mean that.  I meant that it could have been in the Top 10 of all time - Including MST episodes like Hobgoblins and Manos - if the timing was kept at a better pace.

I hope that explains it a bit better.  Worth the $3 for sure, and it ranks higher than some.

For the part where they are driving on the giant naked man statue's arm, I just riff "Soo....Manos..."

I voted it a 2,if only for the fact it had all 3 riffers.I only chuckled about 5 times in the whole film.I was tempted to turn it off many times but I suffered to the end to give it a chance, got more into the film than the riff!!Not one I will be watching as much as any others again. Please let the guys do the script, they are the pros (no offence to anyone who provided jokes).

Just don't buy the fan riffed ones then.  Let the free market speak to Mike.  It's pretty simple.

Laziest Man on Mars

6/10...  The riffs were hilarious, but it got frustrating at the end.  It really came through later on that the riffers were sticking solely to the script and had their hands tied.  The lines that were there are really funny.  I would have given it a 7, however no joke or comment was made at the paint-peelingly awful "Bat Credit Card" moment.  I had to rewind that scene to make sure that it actually happened, or was I developing schizophrenia.
Oh Good, Shim was Joe Elic.

The joke there was "Yeah, unless Mr. Freeze has frozen his account!" It's a busy scene. We would have loved to spend 10 minutes ranting about what an aberration the batcard was, but really, it was just swallowed amongst the other horrors that Schumacher unleashed upon us and lost in the overall sea of woe.

I think it was nice of the RiffTrax team to work collaboratively with the fans to produce something like this.  I also think it's great that so many fans were willing to devote their time toward a project of this caliber.  But having said that, I tend to agree with the post above.  Like bettertomorrowamy suggested, I won't be buying the fan based riffs anymore.

If you read bettertomorrowamy's posts a little more carefully, you'll see that he wasn't actually saying he did not plan to buy any future fan riffs, he was telling that other guy to just not buy them since he had obviously decided not to like it. BTA has been very supportive of this Trax the whole way through.

Thanks for your comments though...
