Again, for those who really want to separate out the rumors (of which there are many) from the real info, go to unfiction.com, they have some great posts that are backed up with actual links.  This post summarizes ALL the viral marketing stuff.  This post links to all the interviews that cast and crew have given.

There's a ton of mis-information out there, and I try not to believe anything that people post unless I know it's authentic, a.k.a. backed up with a link.  People are saying "I've heard this theory" or "some guy posted this", but the real info is out there, you just have to go look at it.

But I'm with Rude....a lot of the viral marketing stuff for this flick is kinda retarded.  But mixed into it are some interesting things that do explain some of the movie.

CLOVERFIELD – Hasbro Toys is Making a Monster!

In a move that's very surprising for the world's leading toy maker, Hasbro has announced plans to make the monster of "Cloverfield" into a toy and it's going to sell for $100 dollars.

The reason it's surprising is that making a high end collectible toy isn't what Hasbro typically does. They're the company famous for making family friendly toys that typically retail for under ten dollars a figure. Up to now, the toys that retail for that kind of price tag are made by specialty companies that aim for the adult collector. It'll be very interesting to see if this is the beginning of Hasbro's entrance into the high end collectible market, or if this is just a onetime thing.

For those interested, they have started taking orders on the official HasbroToyShop.com website and they say the toy will ship on September 30th. As of now, no photo exists of the monster, but that shouldn't be surprising as most people still haven't seen the film and they're trying to keep the monster under wraps.

According to official info, the Cloverfield monster will feature:

·         70 points of articulation and incredible life-like detail

·         Authentic sound

·         14" tall

·         10 parasites

·         Two interchangeable heads

·         Statue of Liberty head accessory

·         Special Cloverfield collector's edition packaging

It'll be very interesting to see how many order before they can see a picture...

Oh yeah, i meant to mention that quite a few artists have posted their versions of the monster over at deviantART. There are some pretty good ones, almost exactly as i remebered it from the movie. And there are also some pretty funny ones worth a good laugh or two~

Just type Cloverfield into the search engine and enjoy yourself. Obviously this is all spoiler material, so keep that in mind.

Okay, as a fan of action figures, I find this unlikely to IMPOSSIBLE. I haven't seen the movie. Does the monster have... say... 70 legs? I don't even think the Matrix SENTINEL had 70 POA.
