for those who may not know, I give you news (Good or Bad, your choice ;D)

First Starship Troopers 3
QuoteFor anyone that didn't know, a third installment in the "Starship Troopers" franchise is currently being made. Just like the terrible sequel "Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation," the new movie will go directly to DVD.

Surprisingly, there are a few good things about this third film, which is entitled "Starship Troopers: Marauder." It is written and directed by Edward Neumeier, who will be making his helming debut, but has previously written scripts for "Robocop" and the original "Starship Troopers."

In addition, Casper Van Dien is back to reprise his role as Johnny Rico, who is now a general and is forced to return to the military to fight the big bugs.

Even though the original had a health $105 million budget to play with, the third installment is working with a $20 million budget, which is pretty high for a straight-to-DVD release.

Next Alvin and the Chipmunks 2
Quote"Alvin and the Chipmunks" has become the surprise hit of 2007, having already crossed the $200 million box office mark. It is also the most successful family film of last year and is already the highest-grossing talking animal/live-action cartoon adaptation ever.

Now, producer Janice Karman has revealed to MTV News that talks of a sequel have already started, with the new film possibly focusing on the Chipettes. "There has been a lot of talk about it," said Karman. "A lot of people have been asking about the little girls."

For those unfamiliar with the characters, the Chipettes are a group of female chipmunks named Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor, who were first introduced to audiences in the early 80s. All were voices by Karman.

Now celebrate :highfive:...or cry in agony :speechless:

QuoteHead of Lakeshore Entertainment, Tom Rosenberg, spoke to Collider about some of his upcoming projects, which include "Crank 2," "Underworld 3" and "Game."

Comparing "Crank 2" to the original, Rosenberg said that "it's actually similar and more extreme, so what propels Jason is even more extreme than the drug that he took." Regarding whether a trilogy is in mind, Rosenberg said "we'll see... it leaves off where that's possible." He added that "we have a script and we are starting it right about April 1st."

Speaking of the third installment of "Underworld," Rosenberg said: "I think it's the strongest story that we've put together of the three. I think it's really terrific. I think it leads to a fourth. When we did the 1st Underworld, we imagined three - the first one, a sequel and then a prequel. The third is a prequel, so the fourth would carry on where Kate and Scott Speedman left off after two."

"In the first one, Michael Sheen's wife Sonia was killed by Victor (Bill Nighy) and that was his daughter," he continued. "That was the back-story for Michael Sheen. Obviously this is how they meet and Michael Sheen becomes the leader of the werewolves. This is told from the werewolf's perspective, not the vampire's. It's their story and their battle with Victor."

QuoteThe cast of the "High School Musical" franchise has agreed to return for a third installment of the runaway hit that Walt Disney Pictures will release in theaters on October 24th. Project had already been in the works as a theatrical release after the second TV movie attracted a record-breaking audience for Disney Channel.

Set to return for "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" are Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman. And much of the cast was expected to return for the pic that starts lensing in the spring. But questions remained whether Disney would offer up big enough paydays to bring back its stars, especially Efron, after the TV movies became an instant phenom and put them on the map, drumming up offers for pics at the major studios, as a result.

Efron is currently lensing the comedy "Seventeen" for New Line and is signed to star in a redo of "Footloose" at Paramount.

Kenny Ortega will direct "HSM3" from a script by Peter Barsocchini. Both helmed and penned the first two TV movies. Pic will revolve around seniors Troy (Efron) and Gabriella (Hudgens) facing the prospect of being separated from one another as they head off in different directions to college. Joined by the rest of the Wildcats, they stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes and fears about their future.

Last summer, 18.2 million viewers tuned into "High School Musical 2," making it the largest audience for a basic-cable telecast. Its soundtrack was the No. 2 album of 2007 in the US selling 6.5 million units. Disney Channel says first "HSM" has been seen by 250 million viewers worldwide since it bowed in 2006.

You know, this day and age, I'm surprised anyone would name their kid "Dix" . . . or in this case, name their character that.
