300 would imply a PERFECT score... I would think Mike and company would tend to avoid any positive references when dealing with any movie they are riffing, good or bad.

Well.. I think it would fit right in with some of their offset humor: "Lets Go Bowling for Persians.. In Hell!!" or something..

Agree this will be an awsome movie to riff. Possibly the bloodiest one yet (assuming CGI-blood counts).

I just hope they nail the 'Choose your next words carefully Mr Bond, er Leonidis....' line near the start. Never remind people of a good movie during your crappy movie.

I'm still trying to figure out why so many people are jumping on the '300 sucks' bandwagon that pretty much started right after the riff of 300 was announced.  It's one thing to despise a movie, and another thing entirely to think it's bad.  Whether you like it or not, 300 is a good movie with a compelling true story portrayed in a surrealistic way with excellent cinematography and choreography.  If you don't like it, that's your problem.  I also have a feeling that some people who are on this bandwagon didn't really have much of an opinion on the movie until the riff was announced, much like the crap I see about how horrible Fellowship of the Ring and The Matrix are.

As an example of hating a movie, yet not thinking it's bad, I point to Steel Magnolias.  I can't stand to watch that pile of estrogen for more than 5 minutes, but I'd say it's one of the best, if not the best, chick flicks of all time.  I just happen to hate chick flicks, which probably has something to do with why I like 300.

Ortega

wow...i've never heard or seen Steel magnolias AND 300 mentioned in the same article........kudos to you! ;)

I'm just not especially impressed with 300. There were a few things that I think could have done better or could have been removed, for example the giant ogre things on the chains which were neither original or necessary (cave troll, anyone?). The Immortals, the elite of elite hand-picked warriors of Xerxes himself? Basically orcs in retarded Kabuki masks wielding two katanas - no element of which is particularly original either. I also feel that making them orcs cheapened them a little: when you look at the Immortals tearing up the Spartans, you think to yourself "What kind of horrible badasses must these people be to kill Spartans?", then the mask pops off and oh nevermind, it's an orc and killing people is just what orcs do. Nothing special. I end up with the feeling that some of the ancient Grecco-Persian atmosphere which makes the setting so unique was flushed away for the sake of a couple lame cave trolls. The parts where the Persians set loose the rhinos and elephants, parts which would have made an amazing battle scene, were startlingly short and succinct.

I don't think 300 was a bad movie, and I don't hate it either - it was fun, very fun, but nothing I'll remember fondly in a year.

googergieger

so what about us who knew the movie was bad during/after we saw it?

*read that in pointless slowmotion*
Stand by for action!

Tony Farms AKA Puma Man

I have no opinion of 300 (because I never saw it), but I'm just glad that Bill is involved.

His voice just makes me chuckle.

I thought it was pretty decent.  The parts that were added in, such as the whole wife storyline, were lame and the dialogue was silly - but the parts that were from the book were filmed so beautifully, and Butler was perfect for the role.  I'm not against this riff, and I know I'll watch it, I'm just saying I didn't expect it and that 300 isn't my top pick for a rifftrax.

Wait, wait, wait. I din't read the book, so I wasn't aware of this- The wife storyline wasn't in the book?
It didn't add a whole heck of a lot to the plot of the story, in the end, but it did break up the 2 hours of fighting.

You do have a good point - it did keep the fighting from being monotonous, and the fact that you couldn't tell she was injected in is probably a compliment to the filmmakers.
